Under the direction of the School Director, the Lead Teacher plays a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children. This position is responsible for planning and delivering curriculum, leading classroom operations, and implementing Cadence Education programs while supporting the physical, social, emotional, and developmental needs of all children—including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Lead Teachers are classroom leaders who model professionalism, ensure compliance with licensing and safety requirements, and partner with families and team members to support each child’s growth and success.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
Must meet state licensing requirements for Lead Teachers in a licensed childcare center. A minimum of 6–12 months of early childhood or classroom experience is preferred, depending on education and credentials. Experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in a Florida VPK classroom. A qualifying Florida VPK instructor credential, such as a CDA, FCCPC, or eligible college degree. Knowledge of Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards. Experience supporting early literacy, phonological awareness, language development, and kindergarten readiness. Strong classroom management, lesson planning, and parent communication skills. Completion of required DCF training and VPK-specific training, or the ability to meet applicable training requirements within required timelines.
Must meet all Department of Health Services (DHS) licensing qualifications for Lead Teachers, which may include: High school diploma or GED plus required experience or College coursework in early childhood education or CDA, CCP, EEC or NAC credential. Ability to obtain and maintain required background clearances and health screenings. CDA preferred but not required if state requirements are met.
