Postdoctoral fellow or research scientist - airo lab

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Scientist to conduct research on fixed-wing aerial robots that can achieve safe and agile vision-based flight. The JHU AIRO lab investigates methods at the intersection of computational control, machine learning, and computational physics. The chosen candidate will support the AIRO Lab’s development of highly agile robotic systems that can operate under changing environmental conditions and challenging fluid flows.

We are particularly interested in, but not limited to, research directions involving:

• GPU-accelerated safe stochastic feedback motion planning for agile flight.
• Machine learning for vision-based navigation in uncertain dynamic environments.
• Control of agile autonomous vehicles governed by complex fluid flows.

PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Expertise in computational control, motion planning, machine learning, and the dynamics of agile robotic systems. Strong background in software development, especially C++ and CUDA. Experience working with robotic hardware systems, especially aerial robotic systems. Experience mentoring junior researchers and scientists.
