POLYSOMNOGRAPHY TECHNICIAN – UBMD PEDIATRICS

Pay range: $31-$37 per hour

Schedule: 3x12hr shifts per week

POSITION SUMMARY

UBMD Pediatrics is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Polysomnography Technician to support the care of pediatric patients in a specialized sleep lab. This role focuses on helping children and adolescents feel comfortable throughout their overnight visits, assisting with patient monitoring, maintaining equipment, and preparing the lab environment. In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience from the moment they schedule an appointment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnograms (sleep studies) for pediatric and adolescent patients ages 0–21 in a pediatric-only sleep lab.
• Apply electrodes and monitoring equipment to patients undergoing sleep studies.
• Monitor and maintain equipment for up to two patients per night during 8-hour overnight sleep studies.
• Prepare the sleep lab and equipment before each study and clean up after procedures.
• Wash reusable equipment, make and strip beds, and handle laundry.
• Communicate with pediatric patients and their parents regarding sleep studies and related medical concerns.
• Receive on-the-job training; prior experience is not required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, LPN, completion of RT or PSGT degree.
• A valid or current NY license as a polysomnographic technologist or respiratory therapist: RPSGT, CPSGT, BRPT, RRT, RTT, CRT.
• Eligible candidates who are not RPSGT or RST must be either enrolled or complete A-STEP within 2 years of hire date.
