Perioperative technician-gastroenterology

Overview:

40 hours per week. Monday-Friday, via 5 8-hour shifts, with hours varying between 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Must have flexibility to work additional hours to cover late OR cases as necessary/as scheduled. No weekends, holidays or call.

Non-exempt, Benefits Eligible. Pay starts at $20.40 + based on experience

Job Description Summary:

Performs a variety of technical and supportive tasks to assist daily clinical operations. Performs routine and delegated duties according to departmental policies.

Essential Functions:

• Prepares operating rooms for surgery by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces.
• Assists surgical team with use of instruments and supplies.
• Maintains inventory of surgical supplies and equipment.
• Assists clinical staff with transferring and positioning patients as needed.

Education Requirement:

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

Licensure Requirement:

Certifications:

BLS Certification, preferred.

Skills:

• Basic understanding of mechanical equipment.
• Self-starter who requires little or no supervision.
• Ability to respond appropriately to life threatening situations.
• Effective multitasking, interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a stressful environment.
• Working knowledge of supply chain or materials management.
• Working knowledge of surgical and anesthesia procedures.

Experience:

Previous health care experience, preferred.
