Patient Care Technician (Behavioral Health) – Per Diem – All Shifts

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in Behavioral Health, you will play a vital role in supporting patients and the multidisciplinary care team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician, you will perform routine and complex patient care activities, assist with daily living needs, and help maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care as part of the nursing team.
• Provide direct patient care and perform Nurse Aide responsibilities as needed.
• Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients.
• Support patients with daily living activities and provide reassurance during periods of anxiety or distress.
• Monitor and record vital signs and other clinically relevant information.
• Communicate observations to the multidisciplinary team to support quality patient care.
• Adhere to established policies, procedures, and standards of care.

This position provides staffing coverage for all shifts, including weekends.

Preferred Criteria

• A college degree and at least one year of psychiatry-related experience
• EKG & Phlebotomy experience

Required Criteria

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum one year of experience as Nurse Aide
• ACLS, BCLS and additional American Heart Association Life-Support classes
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical functions
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with staff, patients and visitors
• Complete in-house training program

Please note that all roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP. NYP will not reimburse for travel expenses.

Salary Range: $34.75/Hourly
