OB Hospitalist | One 24-Hour Shift Per Week + Benefits | High earning Potential

Progress West Hospital is seeking a Part-Time OB Hospitalist to join an established and growing Women's Services program. This recruitment supports leadership's goal of transitioning from PRN coverage to a dedicated physician position, providing consistent inpatient obstetrical coverage.

Practice Details

• Flexible 0.6 FTE schedule
• One 24-hour shift per week (approximately 24 hours/week)
• Predominantly weekend coverage
• No outpatient clinic responsibilities
• Established team with strong hospital support
• Growing OB program with expanding physician recruitment
• Call room provided with workspace, recliner, bed, computer, and amenities

Clinical Responsibilities:

Provide 24/7 emergency obstetrical coverage, including:

• Labor and delivery support
• Postpartum emergencies
• OB patient evaluations
• Pregnancy-related bleeding
• Urinary tract infections during pregnancy
• Other emergent obstetrical concerns

Current platform includes four OB Hospitalists (0.9 FTE each)

Schedule:

• Part-time commitment: 1 shift per week
• 24-hour shifts
• Approximately 90% weekend coverage
• Most commonly: Friday 7:00 AM to Saturday 7:00 AM
• Workload varies by shift:
• Periods of minimal activity
• Periods with frequent patient calls and evaluations

Program Growth:

Nearly 1,000 annual deliveries. Growth expected with:

• Addition of two OB/GYN physicians
• Recruitment of a third OB/GYN for BJC Medical Group

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly Rates:

• Weekday Rate: $125/hour
• Weekend Rate: $150/hour
• Friday 7:00 AM to Saturday 7:00 AM shift:
• First 12 hours paid at $125/hour
• Second 12 hours paid at $150/hour

• Pro-rated PTO based on FTE and years of BJC service

Overview

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC HealthCare’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care.

Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.

Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

OB Physicians support the Womens Services area by providing house doctor responsibilities. This area, along with all departments within the hospital, supports the guiding principles of the hospital in providing care that is customized and reflects the patient's needs, values, and choices.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Ensures optimal care and promotes safety of patients admitted to assigned service in cooperation with the private attending staff and nursing staff. Communicates with staff, patients, and families.

Responsibilities

• Manages the medical care of assigned patients.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and members of the health care team to ensure excellent clinical outcomes.
• Performs and documents histories and physicals in the patient's medical record as required by hospital by-laws.
• Supervises and instructs medical students and residents assigned to service. Assists in the learning needs of residents and students as assessed.
