Job Summary

Provides management and operational oversight of UVA CH laboratory to ensure quality testing, fiscal targets, and volume based staffing targets are met using established laboratory standards. Ensures laboratories adhere to quality, safety, regulatory, certification, and accreditation standards. Support team members’ continuing education and professional growth, as well as ensuring team members understand how their roles contribute to the laboratory and organization’s goals.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science or equivalent required. Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology or MT program preferred. Graduate degree in healthcare related field preferred.

Experience: 5-7 years of relevant laboratory tech and/or leadership experience preferred.

Licensure: Technologist/Scientist certification from ASCP or AMT-MT required.

Physical Demands

Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs.
