Job Category: Engineering

We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Support Engineer to support manufacturing, testing, calibration, and automation activities for high-temperature thermocouples (T/C), resistive temperature detectors (RTD), and electrical harnesses. This role will work closely with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and laboratory personnel to ensure test and production equipment is reliable, accurate, and capable of meeting customer and quality requirements. A significant portion of the role will involve supporting a high-temperature instrument calibration lab operating, integrating and troubleshooting automated electrical test equipment, and developing software used to automate manufacturing and testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the operation, troubleshooting, improvement, and maintenance of a high-temperature instrument production and calibration testing databases.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve calibration and test processes in accordance with IEC, ASTM, IEC/ISO17025, or AMS2750 standards, including measurement accuracy, traceability, documentation, and uncertainty considerations.
  • Troubleshoot test equipment, instrumentation, sensors, electrical systems, software, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Support the integration of automation equipment, instrumentation, PLCs/controllers, data acquisition systems, and production test systems.
  • Program, configure, and maintain manual and automated electrical cable/harness testers, including development and modification of test programs and reports.
  • Develop and maintain applications, scripts, and interfaces used for manufacturing and lab operations.
  • Create, train and maintain engineering documentation, work instructions, test procedures, software documentation, and equipment records.
  • Support root-cause/corrective actions related to manufacturing, testing, calibration, and equipment performance.
  • Work with Product, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure test processes meet applicable specifications and quality requirements.
  • Assist with equipment qualification, calibration, PM, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and capital initiatives involving automation, test efficiency, quality, safety, and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or computer engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting manufacturing, testing, lab, automation, instrumentation, or related engineering activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills involving electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and/or software systems.
  • Ability to work hands-on with manufacturing and lab environments to troubleshoot problems at the equipment/process level.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn and support new software and test systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing operators, technicians, engineers, quality personnel, and lab personnel

Highly Preferred Qualifications

  • Programming experience with VB/VBA, LabView, Python, C# and/or SQL.
  • Experience programming or supporting manual and automated electrical testers.
  • Experience integrating automated manufacturing and test equipment, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, or industrial automation.
  • Experience working with thermocouples, RTDs, temperature measurement, or other sensors, including high-temperature calibration or test systems.
  • Familiarity with IEC, ASTM, IEC/ISO17025, and AMS2750 lab requirements.

What Success Looks Like

Success means becoming a technical resource that manufacturing and lab personnel can rely on when equipment, software, testing, or processes don't work as expected. The successful candidate will:

  • Keep critical test and calibration equipment operational and reliable.
  • Develop and maintain robust automated test solutions.
  • Improve the speed, accuracy, and repeatability of manufacturing and testing processes.
  • Ensure calibration and measurement activities remain technically sound and compliant with applicable requirements.
  • Turn manual or inefficient processes into practical automated solutions.
  • Use manufacturing and test data to identify and solve problems.
  • Work comfortably across the boundaries of engineering, manufacturing, automation, software, and metrology.

Successful Candidate must be able to meet U.S. export control requirements (ITAR/EAR) to gain access to technical data. We are unable to accept candidates needing sponsorship. Salary ranges for this role are based on the job’s location and may be adjusted according to a candidate’s experience, reflecting our commitment to recognizing and rewarding individual expertise and contributions. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate based on any legally protected status. Qualified applicants will receive consideration based on merit and business needs, and reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and duties or requirements may change as business needs evolve. Employment is at will and may be terminated by either the employee or the company at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with applicable law.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on engineering position with regular interaction with manufacturing and lab operations. The engineer should be comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor and in the calibration/test lab, working directly with equipment and personnel rather than being exclusively office-based. The position may involve working around high-temperature equipment, electrical test equipment, instrumentation, machinery, and production environments. Appropriate training and safety procedures will be provided.

Preferred Candidate Profile

We are especially interested in candidates who have a combination of engineering fundamentals, programming ability, instrumentation/test experience, and practical troubleshooting skills. The ability to bridge hardware, software, manufacturing, and measurement is highly valued in this role.
