Medical technologist - clinical labs

Work Schedule:

Full-time, 100% FTE Monday -Friday dayshift, 7:30AM - 4:00PM, rotating weeknight/weekend/holiday call requirements at University Hospital in Madison, WI. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.

Pay:

This position may be eligible for an $8000.00 sign-on bonus (pro-rated based on FTE). Additional compensation may include:

• Evening and night shift differential
• Weekend differential

Play an essential role in the quality and safety of patient care, performing a wide range of procedures that assist our providers with the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients and their health needs.

We are seeking a Medical Technologist to:

• Perform testing in the clinical laboratories (any complexity).
• Skills to operate calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot analyzers and other lab equipment.
• Demonstrate competence in all laboratory procedures sufficient to perform at a satisfactory level without supervision.
• Use good judgement and decision making sufficient to ensure accuracy and quality of lab tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology - Required.
• Bachelor's Degree must include minimally 60 semester hours or equivalent, that includes either: 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses OR 24 semester hours – 6 chemistry, 6 biology and 12 chemistry, biology, medical laboratory technology in any combination - Required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) - Preferred.
• Master's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MLS) or related science or healthcare field – Preferred.

Work Experience

• 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory - Preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

Certification (Medical Laboratory Scientist, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Technologist in Blood Bank, Molecular Biology) by the board of American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent – Preferred.
