Job Description

Why This Role Matters

Geiger helps customers keep their rotating equipment running reliably and efficiently. We don't just repair equipment; we make sure it performs at its best, using the latest product offerings to improve long-term reliability.

As a rotating equipment application engineer, you'll help uphold that reputation by serving as a technical resource for our teams, supporting repairs, and recommending dependable solutions to customers. By being hands-on with the equipment, you’ll be able to effectively troubleshoot failures, evaluate performance issues, and offer tangible solutions in real time. You'll also build a working knowledge of pump selection and sizing, supporting new and aftermarket opportunities alongside our sales team.

If you’re looking for a hands-on role while working with a team in a fast-paced environment to solve critical problems for real customers, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

  • Become our technical expert for customer repair and aftermarket needs
  • Provide technical support for existing installations: troubleshooting, performance evaluations, and repair or upgrade recommendations that keep customers' operations running.
  • Have hands-on opportunities with equipment alongside our service technicians in our Baltimore shop with travel to our Aston, PA shop as needed.
  • Support startup, commissioning, field inspections, and performance verification when your expertise is needed on-site alongside our field service technicians and sales engineers.
  • Learn the fundamentals of pump selection, sizing, and application to expand your knowledge of equipment solutions and failure analysis.
  • Assist in reviewing specifications, drawings, and operating conditions as part of the broader technical team.
  • Support Outside Sales Engineers and inside sales teams with proposals, quotations, and technical submittals as needed.

Grow your expertise

  • Travel to manufacturer factories for trainings to continuously sharpen your technical knowledge on pumps and rotating equipment with the experts designing the equipment, and network with other technical engineers.
  • Have opportunities to travel to customer sites with our outside sales engineers and service technicians to see the equipment running in real time to effectively offer solutions and expand your experience in pump applications.
  • Build a reputation as a go-to technical resource - for customers and for your own team.

Who We're Looking For

  • 1–5 years of experience with rotating equipment, industrial/process equipment, rotating equipment service, or a similar technical support role. Plant engineer, maintenance engineer, rotating equipment applications, or reliability-focused technical roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering (or closely related field) preferred; Associate degree with equivalent hands-on industry experience also considered.
  • Strong communicator who can discuss technical detail with engineers as well as mechanical basics with technicians.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications, engineering drawings, pump curves, and technical documentation.
  • A mechanical aptitude and genuine curiosity about why equipment behaves the way it does. Attention to detail and understanding how critical the details are to the big picture is a must.
  • Self-directed and organized, with the adaptability to jump between office analysis, shop investigation, and customer-site problem-solving.
  • Willingness to travel to regional customer sites and our Aston, PA site (~1 hour from Baltimore office) if needed for hands-on evaluations.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Real ownership: your technical judgment directly shapes how repairs are completed and what options our customers have to get back up and running.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: When every minute of downtime is costly for our customers, finding quick solutions can save large amounts of money.
  • Variety: Spending time between the shop and being hands-on while also performing critical engineering evaluations and calculations keeps every day interesting.
  • Working with real customers: Discussions with our customers about their specific needs are critical for providing the right solution for them.
  • Exposure to industry-leading pump and rotating equipment manufacturers, and the training that comes with representing them.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented culture built on continuous improvement to ensure every step in the repair process goes smoothly for both our teams and our customers.
  • Competitive compensation with bonus opportunities, comprehensive health benefits, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO and paid volunteer days, and educational reimbursement.

This position has a salary range of $80-$88K based on experience, with participation in performance bonus plan expected.
