A locally owned business group is seeking a creative, organized, and self-starting Marketing & Community Relations Manager to lead marketing and community involvement across multiple businesses.
This person will serve as the face of our businesses in the community and the primary contact for sponsorships, donations, and local partnerships. They will also manage social media, design marketing materials, attend local meetings, and coordinate events that strengthen our visibility and relationships.
We’re looking for someone who takes initiative: identifies opportunities, develops ideas, makes recommendations, and carries projects through to completion. This person must be comfortable setting priorities and moving work forward independently, without waiting for daily assignments or reminders.
Responsibilities

- Design and produce biweekly promotional circulars, mailers, signage, advertisements, and social media graphics.
- Develop professional templates and maintain consistent branding for each business.
- Coordinate with managers to obtain accurate promotional details, pricing, product information, and photos.
- Proofread materials and prepare files for print and digital distribution.
- Maintain a marketing calendar and manage production deadlines from concept through final delivery.
Social Media & Content
- Plan, write, schedule, and publish content across all business social media accounts.
- Give each business consistent attention and a distinct voice.
- Visit business locations to capture original photos and short videos.
- Proactively develop content highlighting promotions, products, staff, events, and community involvement.
- Monitor comments and messages and coordinate with management on customer questions.
- Track performance and use results to improve content and engagement.
Community Relations & Local Meetings
- Serve as a visible, approachable representative of our businesses in the community.
- Build relationships with local nonprofits, schools, community organizations, and business groups.
- Regularly attend relevant chamber of commerce, business association, tourism, nonprofit, and community meetings.
- Stay informed about local initiatives, upcoming events, and opportunities that may affect or benefit our businesses.
- Share relevant meeting updates and recommendations with the owners and follow through on resulting opportunities.
- Proactively identify partnerships and ways for our businesses to support and participate in the community.
Sponsorships & Donations
- Serve as the primary contact for sponsorship, donation, and community partnership requests.
- Evaluate requests and present recommendations to the owners based on cost, community impact, and business relevance.
- Coordinate approved commitments, promotional materials, recognition, deadlines, and follow-up.
- Maintain organized records of partnerships, sponsorships, donations, and spending.
Events
- Plan and coordinate business events, community participation, and sponsored activities.
- Manage promotion, logistics, budgets, and coordination with staff, vendors, and community partners.
- Represent our businesses at networking functions and community events.
- Ensure participating teams understand their responsibilities and have the materials they need.
- Review results and recommend improvements for future events.
Initiative & Ownership
- Independently develop and maintain a work plan that balances marketing deadlines, outreach, meetings, and events.
- Anticipate needs, initiate projects, and follow up on commitments without repeated prompting.
- Bring proposed solutions and clear recommendations to the owners.
- Obtain necessary approvals for spending and commitments, then independently manage execution.
- Provide regular updates on priorities, upcoming activities, budgets, and results.
- Take responsibility for completing projects accurately and on time.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in marketing, graphic design, community relations, social media, or event coordination.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating polished print and digital design.
- Proficiency in graphic design software and preparing print-ready files.
- Experience managing business social media accounts and creating photo and video content.
- Strong writing, proofreading, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Confidence attending local meetings, representing businesses, and building community relationships.
