Maintenance engineer i

As a Maintenance Engineer I here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and operational efficiency of our physical facilities and manufacturing equipment. You will apply your technical skills to ensure that facilities and equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

You will report directly to our Facilities Maintenance Manager, and you’ll work out of our Woonsocket, Rhode Island location on a full-time, 100% on-site work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the reliability and performance of our manufacturing equipment and building systems by providing technical support and executing maintenance activities that uphold operational standards and safety requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and perform routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment and building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment to ensure optimal operation.
• Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment and systems promptly to minimize downtime and maintain safety standards.
• Coordinates work and repairs with all departments (e.g. Site Maintenance, Engineering and Building Operations, etc.) as required.
• Support facility upgrades and modifications by collaborating with maintenance teams and external contractors and provide additional input to capital projects that occur within the facility.
• Oversight of contractors working at the site, including the contactor pre-approval process.
• Manage facilities requisitions, purchase orders (POs) and vendor quotes, ensuring cost-effective procurement and alignment with departmental budgets.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all maintenance activities.
• Coordinate winter snow removal and building preparation at beginning of production shift.
• Support facilities maintenance department during shutdown and tie-ins to building systems.
• Respond off hours to burglar or fire alarm events.
• Mentor junior technicians, and ensure all work adheres to local building codes and safety regulations.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

You Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
• 1-3 years of experience in facilities or equipment maintenance engineering.
• Knowledge of building systems, manufacturing equipment, and maintenance best practices.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with maintenance management software and basic understanding of safety and regulatory compliance.
• Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have asylum or refugee status in the U.S.

We Value:

• Advanced degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related fields) is a plus.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple priorities.
• Knowledge of energy-saving practices and sustainable maintenance initiatives.
• OSHA 10- or 30-Hour Certification, other specialized trade licensures or certifications.
