We have an immediate career-growth opportunity for a collaborative and highly skilled Linux Networking Developer; we hire innovative thinkers wishing to work with emerging technologies on tactical defense solutions recognized around the world.

Responsibilities

The Linux Networking Developer will design, develop, and maintain Linux‑based software and networking components that support mission‑critical aerospace and defense systems. This role involves low‑level Linux development, system configuration, secure networking, and integration of software on embedded, on‑premise, and restricted environments. The ideal candidate has strong Linux internals knowledge combined with hands‑on networking experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test Linux‑based applications, system services, and tools for aerospace and defense platforms.
• Develop and integrate system‑level software including kernel modules, drivers, networking daemons, and custom Linux distributions.
• Configure, optimize, and harden Linux networking stacks and services (routing, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, NTP, SSH).
• Implement networking protocols and middleware for mission systems, avionics test environments, satellite ground systems, and secure communication networks.
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving networking performance, packet flow, kernel behavior, and hardware interaction.
• Develop automation scripts and tools (Bash, Python) to support deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.
• Perform analysis, testing, and integration in lab environments, hardware‑in‑the‑loop setups, and air‑gapped networks.
• Contribute to technical documentation including requirements, design specifications, user manuals, and other customer required deliverables.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

5–8 years’ experience in the following:

• Ability to work in an Agile environment, strong communication and collaboration skills with teammates and participation in the Agile process/ ceremonies.
• Strong experience with Linux internals, system programming, or kernel‑level development.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for systems development; scripting experience in Bash and Python.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, VPNs.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux networking tools: iproute2, systemd‑networkd, NetworkManager, iptables/nftables, OpenSSL, SSH.
• Experience troubleshooting complex Linux networking and performance issues.
• Ability to work in controlled engineering environments; eligibility to obtain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with aerospace or defense networks (mission systems, avionics networks, satellite communication).
• Knowledge of real‑time or high‑availability Linux systems.
• Experience with automated build systems, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation.

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:

Ability to access systems with information restricted to U.S. citizens per federal contract requirements is required. Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) secret security clearance.
