Job Description Summary

Assist physician and RNs in the care of urology patients.

Primary Key Performance Areas:

• Assist in obtaining lab samples.
• May perform technical laboratory procedures in a timely manner with accuracy and precision, meeting the standards of all accrediting/regulatory agencies.
• Following laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
• Sending outside labs to appropriate facility as dictated by patient’s insurance plan.
• May assist in maintaining test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to all regulatory agencies.
• Responsible for patient assessment.
• Documentation: Thorough and accurate documentation in OncoEMR of treatment rendered to patients.
• Accurately prepare superbill to charge patient for services received in office.
• Ensure appropriate charges are captured by following guidelines for appropriate administration of all medications.
• Will follow the AON I.D. policy and procedure with every patient encounter.
• Teaching: When appropriate, educate patients and family about medications, side effects and planned treatment course.
• Interact with patient and family in a caring and professional manner.
• Telephone triage: Includes prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies and physician offices from emergent to non-urgent. Must respond accordingly in an appropriate time frame.
• Assist with inventory and re-stocking medical supplies, when called upon.
• Recommend purchase of new items as needed.
• Place stock in storage areas in a timely manner.
• Meetings: Attend annual Safety / OSHA training meetings.
• Attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
• Maintain and ensure the confidentiality of all patient and employee information at all times.
• Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
• Will be expected to work at any AON location to help meet AON business needs.
• Have thorough knowledge of Nucleus medication dispensing system.
• Oversee ordering of medical and assist with pharmaceutical supplies.
• Ensure compliance with audit requirements.
• Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law.
• Adheres to AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan.

Position Qualifications:

• Appropriate state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Experience in Urology in clinic or hospital setting.
• Current CPR and BLS certification is required.
