Library Assistant for Agriculture Collections (OPS)

Classification Minimum Requirements:

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS). Must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.

Job Description:

The Student Assistant will support collection management projects involving agricultural materials at Marston Science Library. This position will assist with inventorying print materials, verifying items selected for digitization, maintaining project documentation, and coordinating the transfer of materials to other library units. The Student Assistant will also track project progress and provide weekly updates to the supervising team.

Job duties:

• Inventory agricultural print materials.
• Check materials selected for digitization.
• Collect and update catalog record information.
• Confirm whether materials are already available online.
• Help transfer materials to other library units.
• Keep project records and spreadsheets organized.
• Provide weekly progress updates.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Hours:

10-15 hrs per week.

Time limited:

(position will end by December 2026)

Expected Salary:

$15.00 /hr

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma
• Must be reliable, detail oriented and work well with others
• Once trained, must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Maintain good communication with supervisor
• Skilled with Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word & Excel) programs
• Available for training and weekly meetings in person in Marston Science Library 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday.

Preferred:

• Able to lift 25 lbs
• Previous library experience
• Knowledge of agriculture
