The Lead Engineer is a deeply technical, strategic individual contributor who owns complex platforms and solutions end-to-end. They combine architecture and hands-on engineering expertise with strong technical judgment, drive engineering standards and operational excellence, solve the most complex technical problems, and influence multiple teams through technical leadership, coaching, and clear communication. Their impact extends beyond their own delivery to shaping the technical direction, quality, reliability, and scalability of the broader domain. Drives the architecture and delivery of high impact software solutions that implement strategic goals established by executives and senior leadership. Applies advanced software engineering, architectural practices, and emerging technologies to design innovative, scalable solutions. Leads large, complex initiatives of strategic importance as an individual contributor, frequently providing cross team technical leadership, coaching, and training that advance business objectives and help shape future technical direction.

Expectation: Designs scalable, resilient solutions and makes sound architecture decisions for complex platforms, not just individual applications or features.

Expectation: Actively evaluates and adopts AI and emerging engineering practices to improve developer productivity, solution capabilities, quality, and delivery effectiveness.
Expectation: Leads through technical credibility rather than organizational authority. Coaches other engineers, drives technical decisions, establishes engineering practices, and influences teams toward common solutions.
Expectation: Builds risk management into engineering decisions. Identifies and communicates technology risks early, implements appropriate controls and mitigation, and escalates material risks when necessary.
This is the overarching capability connecting the skills above.
