Laboratory analyst (asbestos)

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Cinnaminson, NJ. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Qualifications Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferred
• Some Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift: Position is full time, Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Cinnaminson, NJ are encouraged to apply.
