The role oversees supply logistics, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, medical products and purchased services, with a mandate to improve efficiency, reduce risk and maximize value while keeping clinical operations fully supplied.

The interim leader will stabilize and strengthen the supply chain team, drive near-term cost and performance improvements, and position the function, and the permanent leader who follows, for long-term success.

Key responsibilities

Strategic leadership

  • Provide executive leadership for all supply chain functions during the transition, keeping operations stable and teams focused.
  • Assess the current supply chain organization, processes, systems and performance, and deliver a prioritized improvement plan to executive leadership.
  • Set clear near-term goals and lead execution of high-impact initiatives within the interim term.
  • Prepare the function for a permanent leader through documented strategy, a strong leadership bench and clean governance.

Supply chain operations

  • Oversee procurement, sourcing and contracting; logistics, distribution; inventory management; and purchased services.
  • Ensure reliable supply of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and medical products to all care sites, with a focus on clinical availability.
  • Work with pharmacy leadership on drug sourcing, shortage management and pharmaceutical supply compliance (including DSCSA and controlled-substance requirements).
  • Partner with clinical engineering and facilities on capital medical equipment planning, acquisition and lifecycle management.
  • Improve inventory accuracy, par levels, fill rates and distribution performance across sites.

Financial management and value

  • Own the supply chain budget and drive measurable savings across supplies, pharmaceuticals, equipment and purchased services.
  • Lead value analysis with physicians and clinical leaders to standardize products and reduce unwarranted variation.
  • Maximize the value of group purchasing organization (GPO) and strategic supplier agreements; renegotiate key contracts where needed.
  • Provide accurate spend analytics, forecasts and savings reporting to finance and executive leadership.

Risk, compliance and resilience

  • Strengthen supply chain resilience, including backorder and shortage response, recall management, supplier diversification and emergency preparedness.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements and with internal policies and controls.
  • Manage supplier performance, contract risk and third-party risk.

People and stakeholders

  • Lead, coach and stabilize a large, multi-site supply chain team, maintaining engagement and retention through the transition.
  • Build strong partnerships with clinical, nursing, pharmacy, finance, operations and IT leaders.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with executive leadership on performance, risks and progress.
