🕒 Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Supports the accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance of clinical documentation. Assists healthcare providers in improving documentation quality and reviews clinical records to identify discrepancies. Participates in improvement initiatives, helps monitor adherence to policies, and provides education to clinical staff on best practices. Aids in audits and quality assurance activities, documents findings, and communicates recommendations to supervisors to support continuous improvement.

The Health Information Technician assures the integrity of protected health information (PHI) throughout the UF Health's, Health System (HIS). Trains HIM staff on the electronic medical record. Works with the medical staff on record completion procedures in the Allscripts EMR. Releases PHI in accordance with the HIPAA privacy rule and Florida state statutes.

Responsibilities

  • Analyses medical records quantitatively to assure that required reports and signatures are included in the record. Stays abreast of the appropriate hospital policies and medical staff rules & regulations that pertain to medical record documentation requirements in order to assure proper chart completion.
  • Performs quality reviews of all documents in the electronic medical record to assure all are accurately scanned to the correct patient.
  • Supports accuracy and compliance of clinical documentation.
  • Assists providers in improving documentation quality.
  • Reviews clinical records to identify discrepancies.
  • Participates in improvement initiatives and monitors policy adherence.
  • Provides education to clinical staff on documentation best practices.
  • Aids in audits and quality assurance activities.
  • Documents findings and communicate recommendations to supervisors.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years' experience supporting Health Information Department or clinical documentation improvement
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards
  • Experience assisting with audits and quality assurance activities
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Ability to educate clinical staff on documentation best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EMR and scannings
  • 2+ Years supporting Health Information Department.
