Role and Responsibilities

Position Summary

The HE Category Management Director is the full business owner for the TV & Sound category within Samsung Electronics America's CE eCommerce organization — the single largest revenue and profit category in the CE portfolio. This role carries end-to-end P&L accountability for TV & Sound across Samsung.com and eCommerce retail partners, including revenue, operating profit, pricing, forecast accuracy, and promotional investment.

Beyond category ownership, this Director will lead a defined set of Home Entertainment expansion initiatives on behalf of CE eCommerce — extending TV & Sound's reach into new commercial channels (carrier, banking, social, retailer marketplace) rather than only optimizing the existing base. The role is intended for a leader who can run today's largest P&L with rigor while also building tomorrow's growth channels.

Key Responsibilities

Category P&L Ownership (TV & Sound)

• Full P&L accountability — own revenue, SEA weight, operating profit, and OP% for TV & Sound across all eCommerce channels, and report performance against plan (T-series forecasts, budget, and prior-year comparisons).
• Pricing and promotional strategy — set and defend price architecture, promotional cadence, and MDF/co-op investment for TV & Sound in partnership with Finance and Sales.
• Forecast and demand planning — own the category's sell-in and sell-out forecast, reconcile against retailer-submitted forecasts, and flag and correct drift before it becomes an inventory or OP problem.
• Category management team leadership — manage the TV & Sound Category Support role, and act as the primary escalation point for category-level issues raised by Finance, Sales, or Supply Chain.
• Cross-functional partnership — represent TV & Sound in Weekly Business Reviews, S&OP, and executive business reviews, and partner with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Retail Sales teams on category execution.

HE Business Expansion Initiatives

Approximately 20-30% of this role's time is expected to go toward expansion work that extends beyond the existing TV & Sound base business, given that base-business growth is constrained by marketing budget and is expected to stay roughly flat. This Director will personally lead the following initiatives, in partnership with the CE eCommerce Business Expansion Lead:

• Retailer and internal marketplace growth — grow premium TV presence through 3P marketplace channels (e.g., Walmart Marketplace) where 1P buying does not cover the full assortment, and support Samsung.com's own marketplace initiatives as they extend to HE.
• Social commerce — extend proven social-commerce selling models (e.g., TikTok Store) into TV & Sound, building on early results from the mobile side of the business.
• Ecosystem and carrier partnerships — identify and help structure TV & Sound placement within carrier commerce (e.g., T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, Comcast) and banking partner programs (e.g., Amex Offers, Chase Media Solutions) as they apply to the category.
• Conversational and AI-based commerce — help incubate early positioning for TV & Sound within emerging LLM-based / conversational commerce channels, ahead of broader category adoption.

Skills and Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in eCommerce, category management, retail merchandising, or brand P&L management, ideally within consumer electronics or a comparable durable-goods category.
• Demonstrated ownership of a P&L of comparable scale — revenue and profitability accountability, not just sales or marketing execution.
• Strong quantitative fluency: comfortable building and defending a forecast, reading a margin waterfall, and working directly in Excel-based financial models.
• Experience managing pricing, promotional investment, and channel strategy with retail partners (Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, or similar) or on a direct-to-consumer platform.
• Proven people leadership — has managed at least one direct report and can develop category management talent.
• Excellent executive communication skills; able to present category performance and strategy clearly to senior leadership, including in variance and risk conversations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience specifically in TV, audio, or consumer electronics category management.
• Prior exposure to marketplace (3P) selling models, carrier or banking retail partnerships, or social commerce platforms.
• Experience operating in a matrixed organization spanning Finance, Supply Chain, and Sales.
• MBA or equivalent experience in a quantitative business discipline (preferred, not required).

Success Metrics

• TV & Sound revenue and operating profit performance versus the T-series plan.
• Forecast accuracy versus actual sell-out, and speed of drift correction.
• Tangible progress on multiple HE expansion initiative (e.g., a signed marketplace, carrier, or social-commerce placement) within the first two review cycles.
