The WBG Controllers (CTR) Vice Presidency Unit (VPU) oversees all aspects of financial reporting and internal control framework across the World Bank Group, including its extensive Trust Fund and Partnership portfolio. CTR provides shared services for corporate expenses and trust funds and ensures fiduciary responsibility for disbursement-related operations. The Vice Presidency is organized into three departments – Corporate Accounting and Reporting; Loan and Financing Operations; and Financial Operations – and is guided by a shared focus on delivery, optimization, impact, and people and culture.

The Private Sector Investment Operations division (CTRIO), within Loan and Financing Operations, manages the recording, servicing, and post-commitment support of IFC’s private-sector investment portfolio. This portfolio includes loans, guarantees, short-term finance products, donor trust funds, and equity investments. CTRIO ensures that investment agreements and related transactions are recorded accurately and promptly in systems of record and the general ledger. The division supports disbursement activities, including calls of funds, client payments, and disbursement bookings, as well as end-to-end servicing across the investment lifecycle. Servicing activities include fee, interest, and principal billing; repayment processing; restructurings; equity sales; and corporate actions. CTRIO also plays an important role in supporting informed business decisions and ensuring the effective operational implementation of new financial products, systems, and technology-enabled solutions.

About the role: CTRIO is seeking a skilled, forward-thinking, and highly motivated Financial Operations Analyst to join the Client Servicing workstream within Investment Operations. The position is based in Washington, DC, and reports to the Loan Operations Team Leader. The Financial Operations Analyst will support the delivery of consistent, timely, and high-quality services across IFC’s portfolio of private-sector investment products. These may include loans, guarantees, debt securities, subordinated loans, equity investments, blended-finance instruments, donor trust funds, trade and supply-chain finance products, special operations, and risk-mitigation instruments.

The analyst will support the accurate recording, servicing, and monitoring of investment transactions throughout their lifecycle. The role will also contribute to strong internal controls, proactive operational risk management, reliable portfolio data, effective stakeholder coordination, and timely resolution of client and transaction-related issues.

The position involves frequent interaction with colleagues across CTR, Investment Departments, Middle Office Operations, Treasury, Syndications, Portfolio Management, Accounting, Valuation, Risk, Legal, Internal Controls, Trust Funds, Information Technology, Cash Settlement, and Financial Reporting, as well as external auditors.

The Analyst will also help advance CTRIO's modernization agenda through process simplification, systems implementation, automation, responsible use of AI-enabled tools, and data quality improvements. Together, these efforts make operations more efficient, accurate, well controlled, and scalable.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Financial Operations Analyst’s primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide operational support to the Loan Operations team, delivering high-quality outputs, robust internal controls, and adherence to service standards while promoting a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Review legal agreements for IFC loans, guarantees, and debt securities, and book commitments accurately in systems of record and the general ledger.
  • Process IFC investment products, including loans, debt securities, and guarantees, accurately and on time across the full lifecycle (commitment, disbursement, servicing, and closure). Support end-to-end servicing of loan transactions, including payment clearing and application.
  • Review monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual bills issued to borrowers, and support bill dispatch, client payment settlement, and arrears tracking.
  • Act as a primary operational contact for assigned clients and internal partners, managing relationships proactively and resolving service issues and escalations within agreed service standards.
  • Liaise with Investment Officers and downstream partners to ensure projects are booked accurately and specific reporting requirements are met.
  • Advise internal and external clients and counterparts in other business units on loan issues, transaction processes, operational procedures, and IFC corporate policies, and respond to information requests promptly.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of solutions to address complex operational issues, communicate issues in a clear and concise manner to diverse stakeholders, and ensure alignment with IFC's broader business objectives.
  • Support initiatives to scale automation and process reengineering efforts, demonstrating adaptability and agility in response to evolving business needs.
  • Support automation and process reengineering, adapting quickly to changing business needs.
  • Champion the practical use of AI tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, to streamline repetitive tasks like client communications, exception handling, and data validation, reducing manual effort and speeding up turnaround.
  • Maintain and strengthen the internal control environment for CTRIO’s accounting processes by identifying control gaps and supporting remediation plans.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support strategic decision-making, goal achievement, and problem resolution.
  • Support and carry out technical workplans in the absence of other team members, as appropriate.
