Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Facilities Project Specialist. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

Overview:

The Facilities Project Specialist manages and coordinates facility-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, overseeing contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings.
• Determines project requirements and coordinates with internal staff and outside consultants to ensure projects are completed in accordance with contract.
• Prepares bid sheets for construction and facilities acquisition.
• Using CAD, plan facility changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Schedules, designs, coordinates, and implements facilities, real estate, environmental projects.
• Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
• Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Develops and performs simple to semi-complex design analysis including verification of estimates.
• Consistently and successfully complete engineering and design for projects up to $500k and/or multiple projects simultaneously which are similar in complexity to this range.
• Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs.
• Interacts with external design firms and contractors as well internal customers and organization leadership.
• Serves as lead on project team for functional discipline.

• Proficient knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Proficient in budgeting and cost control.
• Proficient project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient in using project management software and other relevant tools.
• Proficient problem-solving and decision-making skills.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Competent in the use of AutoCAD to produce engineering & design drawings.
• Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $96,289.00 - USD $106,821.00 /Yr.
