Since 1973, Taber Extrusions has been a leading manufacturer of aluminum extrusion-based products for OEMs in markets ranging from Military, Department of Defense, Aircraft/Aerospace, Marine/Shipbuilder, Boat Docks, Platforms, Decking, Motor Housing, Electronics, Heat Sinks, Automotive, Rail, and Structural Components. Taber is highly committed to growth and recently expanded their Russellville facility with the addition of a new 125k sq. ft. building housing a state-of-the-art 10,000 UST front load direct press line. The press line features a 16-inch (406mm) container that can handle profiles up to 600mm wide and is designed to meet the rigorous demands of the aerospace industry. It includes state of the art quench and solution heat treat capabilities. This $80 million investment is intended to more than double Taber’s revenue by allowing the company to enter new segments of the market and be more competitive is active segments.

Taber offers a broad set of capabilities including a full range of aluminum alloys (1000, 2000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 series), extrusion sizes from 7” up to 29” in profile width, and value-added services such as high tolerance machining, precision cutting, welding, bending, friction stir welding and customer supply chain solutions. Taber has grown into a leader in micro extrusions with capabilities to produce precision aluminum components for a broad range of markets.

The company produces its own secondary aluminum billet using a cast house located in Gulfport with sizes ranging in diameter from 7”, 9”, 11”, 16”, 20”, and 10x28” slab. JOB SUMMARY

As an Extrusion Manager you will supervise and coordinate all activities of extrusion workers and tooling employees by performing the following duties. This will include being responsible for managing all daily activities surrounding the aluminum extrusions press processes, including operator assignments, billet preparation, billet heater operations, extrusion press related activities, press quench and tooling.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assigns and assists all Operators in extrusion and tooling process.
• Maintains professional communication with all supervisors and co-workers to ensure an efficient and safe operation.
• Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Follows all policies and procedures as outlined in the QS9000 Operating Manual as they relate to the job function.
• Coordinates production and distribution with policies, principles, and procedures established by Plant Manager.
• Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
• Studies extrusion schedules and estimates requirements for completion of the job assignment.
• Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations, and takes disciplinary action when necessary.
• Diagnoses flow and dimensional problems on all extrusion dies.
• Determines correction action required for extrusions dies to perform correctly and causes the corrective action to be implemented.
• Develop an operator training program utilizing input from the Training Department and the Quality Control Department.
• Define a continual process for yield, quality, and product improvement.
• Develop a cleanup discipline and insure that the discipline is followed.
• Track and reduce down time.
• Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
• Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of the plant.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase productivity of shop, department or work crew.
• Analyses and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
• Requisitions materials.
• Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
• Performs activities of workers supervised.
• Sustains clean safe working a any problems, such as, tool repair for tooling and maintenance for equipment.
• Follows safe work procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

BACHELOR Bachelor degree and 5 plus years of aluminum extrusion experience. Candidates with High school diploma and seven plus years related experiences and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
