We are seeking a Semiconductor Equipment Engineer to support advanced epitaxy and semiconductor manufacturing equipment used in the development of next-generation power electronic GaN-based devices. Experience with MOCVD or epitaxial growth systems is highly desirable; however, candidates with strong semiconductor equipment engineering backgrounds and a demonstrated ability to learn complex technologies are encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

• Install, qualify, and sustain MOCVD equipment for vertical GaN wafer processing.
• Provide technical ownership for equipment performance, reliability, maintenance strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex equipment and process issues to minimize downtime.
• Drive reliability improvement projects utilizing root cause analysis, statistical methods, and continuous improvement techniques to improve equipment performance and manufacturing outcomes.
• Lead vendor engagement and technical alignment to support tool performance, upgrades, and key operational metrics.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, industry standards, and cleanroom best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience as an equipment owner, preferably in R&D or compound semiconductor device fabrication environments.
• Proven expertise in equipment calibration, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Experience working in cleanroom environments, including contamination control protocols.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented and methodical approach.

Preferred Skills

• In-depth knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and manufacturing equipment.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor physics, with emphasis on GaN material properties.
• Hands-on experience with EPI reactors, thin-film equipment, abatement systems, and related metrology tools.

onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $75,300.00-$120,400.00 range exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
