Director-network planning

This role requires a full-time, in-office presence at the designated AT&T work location (five days per week) to support leadership collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and business objectives.

Overall Purpose: Lead and supervise the AT&T Energy team in the design, optimization, and execution of energy infrastructure strategies across existing buildings and network facilities. Provide expert consultation on commercial building energy performance, HVAC optimization, control system programming, building automation strategies, and long-term energy reduction opportunities. This role requires a leader who can translate technical energy expertise into practical operating improvements, scalable program execution, and measurable cost reduction while supporting network reliability and AT&T’s broader transformation objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Strategic Planning and Leadership: Develop and recommend energy strategies, operating standards, and optimization roadmaps for existing commercial buildings and network facilities. Lead and mentor team members while guiding high impact decisions tied to energy performance, capital planning, and operating efficiency.
• Building Systems and Controls Optimization: Lead efforts to improve HVAC performance, building automation sequences, controls programming, economizer operation, setpoint strategy, scheduling, retro commissioning, and system level efficiency across a large national portfolio.
• Performance Analysis and Capacity Planning: Analyze energy consumption trends, benchmark building performance, identify underperforming sites, resolve complex equipment and controls issues, and evaluate short-term and long-term cooling capacity requirements.
• Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Partner with internal operations, engineering, real estate, sourcing, finance, and vendor teams to execute energy programs, manage trade partners, align priorities, and support business and operational customers.
• Documentation and Innovation: Maintain compliance documentation, prepare management reporting and operating guidelines, and evaluate emerging energy technologies, control platforms, analytics tools, and optimization practices that can improve performance at scale.

Job Contribution: Designs and executes strategies that support the overarching philosophy of the organization. Oversees departmental programs and is often hands-on with the design and implementation of applicable strategies. Environmental Requirements: This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired. 10+ years of related experience. Preferred experience includes commercial building energy optimization, building automation systems, controls programming, HVAC sequence development, retro commissioning, measurement and verification, energy analytics, on-site energy generation, and emerging energy saving technologies.
