Job Summary

The Department of Neurosurgery is currently seeking a medical neuro-oncologist at the Associate Professor or Professor level to serve in the role of director of our newly minted Brain Tumor Center. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position which will include teaching, clinical, research, and service responsibilities.

Medical Neuro-Oncology works closely with a multi-disciplinary team including neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, neuropathologists, and neuroradiologists to create a comprehensive treatment plan unique to each individual patient, taking into account the patient’s and family’s needs while providing state-of-the-art care and access to new developments and appropriate clinical trials.

A brain tumor center director must be able to lead and build multi-disciplinary teams, while also prioritizing patient care, trainee education, and center-level research and trials.

Division Head, Neuro-Oncology

In addition, there is an administrative role that will focus on optimizing clinical workflows, aligning operations with regulatory and institutional requirements, and advancing strategic initiatives to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality Neuro-Oncology care. This role will be a stipend, and will involve administrative duties on top of the Associate Professor duties. This role is considered at-will.

Associate Professor - Professor Key Responsibilities

• Clinical duties
• Acute and chronic outpatient care of Neuro-Oncology patients including administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, disease-modifying therapy, and health maintenance care.
• Monitor patients for adverse events related to therapeutics.
• Participation in clinical trials with expectation of completing and maintaining research trainings.
• Inpatient consultations for acute or chronic Neuro-Oncology patients in the University of Colorado Hospital with attendant documentation for these consults.
• Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows in clinics and in the hospital setting.
• Provide supervision and training for advanced practice providers.
• Attend neurology lectures and teaching conferences.
• Train medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Support, share, and engage in continual learning and development among nursing staff, other faculty and advanced practice providers, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents and fellows.
• Periodic presentation of lectures to patients and others regarding neurological conditions and treatments.
• Data entry into hospital systems, committee work, and projects aimed at improving the specialty and department mission.
• Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and specialty programs is expected.
• Ongoing CME is required.

Division Head, Neuro-Oncology Key Responsibilities

• Serve as first director of the Brain Tumor Center.

• Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows in clinics and in the hospital setting.
• Provide operational & financial oversight for the Division of Neuro-Oncology clinical & research activities.
• Support the Medical and Neurosurgical Directors in the coordination of multidisciplinary teams, compliance, and performance improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and reporting requirements.
• Support implementation of new technologies, procedures, clinical trials, and innovation.
• Lead quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and performance outcomes.

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

• 7+ years of experience as a medically trained professional in Neuro-Oncology

Professor

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

• Associate Professor: $350,000 to $375,000
• Professor: $380,000 to $405,000
• Quarterly Incentives will be provided as part of a two year guarantee for the faculty position.

Division Head, Neuro-Oncology : $225,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
