Position Summary

The Development Manager supports Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada's fundraising and community engagement efforts through the planning and execution of special events, donor and sponsor cultivation, grant research, and development operations. Reporting to the Director of Development, this position manages the day-to-day planning and logistics of JASN events while building relationships with corporate sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community partners that strengthen the organization's visibility and financial sustainability.

The Development Manager works closely with event committees and organizational leaders to develop successful fundraising experiences, manage event revenue and expenses, maintain accurate donor and event records, and identify opportunities to grow JASN's fundraising capacity. The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-oriented, creative, and comfortable balancing detailed event execution with donor engagement and broader development priorities. This is a full-time, in-person, exempt position.

Essential Functions

Event Strategy & Execution

• Plan, coordinate, and execute ongoing and new fundraising and donor cultivation events in alignment with annual development objectives and JASN's strategic priorities.
• Develop comprehensive event plans, timelines, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements and coordinate execution across staff, volunteers, vendors, venues, and committee members.
• Partner with event committee chairs to coordinate meetings, communicate priorities, document decisions, and ensure timely follow-through.
• Manage event logistics from planning through setup, execution, tear-down, and post-event evaluation.
• Negotiate venue and event expenses in partnership with the Director of Development and appropriate committee leadership.
• Develop and maintain quality standards and processes that support consistent, effective event execution.
• Lead post-event evaluation to identify successes, challenges, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.
• Identify and develop new event opportunities that can increase revenue, organizational visibility, and community engagement.

Donor, Sponsor & Community Engagement

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors, donors, in-kind partners, volunteers, and other community stakeholders.
• Lead event sponsorship efforts and develop year-round approaches to donor and sponsor cultivation, recognition, and stewardship.
• Partner with the Director of Development to identify prospective major donors and opportunities to deepen existing donor relationships.
• Identify potential grant opportunities using available research tools and provide relevant prospect information to the Director of Development and President.
• Support grant-development efforts and help ensure required submissions are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Recruit, coordinate, and recognize volunteers necessary to support successful event execution.
• Represent JASN professionally in interactions with donors, sponsors, volunteers, committee members, vendors, and community partners.

Development Operations & Performance

• Develop and manage detailed event budgets, monitor income and expenses, and maintain accurate financial documentation in partnership with the Director of Development.
• Maintain accurate and timely donor, prospect, sponsorship, in-kind gift, and event information within JASN's database and gift-management systems.
• Monitor event performance measures and results and support organizational leaders and the Board in evaluating fundraising and event effectiveness.
• Maintain appropriate records related to event income, expenses, correspondence, volunteers, marketing, media coverage, and in-kind contributions.
• Ensure fundraising and event activities align with JASN's mission, values, organizational plans, applicable regulations, and ethical fundraising standards.
• Identify potential major-gift opportunities arising through event and donor engagement and communicate them to the Director of Development.

Communications & Marketing

• Develop event-related proposals, sponsorship materials, solicitations, donor communications, and other fundraising collateral.
• Coordinate event marketing needs in partnership with JASN staff, including digital communications, social media, website content, email outreach, printed collateral, and public relations.
• Support development of press releases and media communications associated with fundraising events, subject to appropriate organizational review.
• Partner with the Director of Development and broader JASN team to identify opportunities to strengthen event visibility, participation, and community awareness.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in development, fundraising, event management, sales, corporate/community engagement, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience planning and executing events or other complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, timelines, and logistical requirements.
• Experience cultivating professional relationships with corporations, donors, sponsors, clients, community partners, or similar external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and project-management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including confidence communicating with external stakeholders and presenting to groups.
• Demonstrated ability to write clear, persuasive fundraising, sponsorship, donor, or other external-facing communications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records, budgets, and database information.
• Demonstrated initiative, creativity, problem-solving ability, and results orientation.
• Experience recruiting, coordinating, or working with volunteers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning and utilizing donor databases and other organizational systems.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
• Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as required to support fundraising events, donor engagement activities, and other organizational priorities.
• Ability to meet the physical and operational requirements associated with event execution, including working across multiple environments and lifting at least 25 pounds.
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks and other employment requirements.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience managing fundraising events and generating event sponsorship revenue.
• Experience with donor cultivation, stewardship, and prospect development.
• Experience researching grant opportunities or supporting grant-development activities.
• Experience developing event marketing collateral or coordinating digital, print, social media, or public-relations activities.
• Experience maintaining donor/prospect records and gift-management systems.
• Experience developing and managing event budgets and monitoring fundraising performance.
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, or comparable design tools.

Compensation

The salary for this position is $50,000 annually, with the exact salary depending on relevant experience, demonstrated impact, and alignment with the scope and responsibilities of the role.
