Position Summary

Heritage Hall seeks a Communications Manager to support the School’s strategic communications efforts. This role serves as a critical liaison between the Marketing and Communications office and both the Development and Admission teams and other campus departments, helping to ensure consistent messaging and streamlined communication. The ideal candidate will help share Heritage Hall’s stories with the school community and beyond, ensuring that each constituency of the School has the information necessary to stay informed, engaged, and supportive.

Primary Responsibilities

Communications and Content Creation

  • Collaborate with Admission and Development teams on messaging for emails, invitations, newsletters, new family information, and event communications.
  • Draft and edit development-style copy to support fundraising appeals and stewardship efforts.
  • Produce and distribute constituent-facing emails in partnership with campus departments and School leadership.
  • Work with the Communications team to create and update content for the website and social media.
  • Lead content development and production of the School’s annual back-to-school publication, Inside The Hall.
  • Write and distribute the weekly campus newsletter, The Pony Express, for families and faculty/staff.
  • Maintain media contact lists and assist with press releases and school announcements.
  • Coordinate with the digital media specialist and senior graphic designer to manage and archive communications assets.
  • Support emergency alert messaging in collaboration with Marketing and Campus Security.
  • Participate actively in Advancement team meetings and projects to support a collaborative culture.

Website and Platform Management

  • Oversee updates, maintenance, and optimization of the School’s website and portals to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and performance.
  • Track and report website analytics (e.g., SEO, page views, clickthrough rates, time on site) to inform improvements.
  • Manage digital archiving and year-end website procedures.
  • Serve as the CORE Manager for Blackbaud CMS platform, collaborating with the Data Integrity Team to ensure platform consistency, data hygiene, and cross-departmental functionality.
  • Create, maintain, and distribute Blackbaud-hosted forms (e.g., event registration, data collection).
  • Support Advancement team communications and workflows through platform management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in communications, marketing, or development, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with familiarity in admissions and fundraising language.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with faculty, students, alumni, and parents.
  • Experience in multi-channel communication strategies for external audiences.
  • High attention to detail and strong initiative.
  • Experience with Blackbaud or similar CMS/LMS platforms preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills; experience with project management tools is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and proficiency with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
