HDR is seeking a Civil/Environmental EIT to join our Waste Sector team. The successful candidate will support a variety of civil infrastructure, site development, utility, drainage, and environmental projects such as landfills, recycling facilities, remediation sites, and waste transfer stations. This position requires a versatile professional with strong engineering fundamentals and advanced CADD production capabilities who is eager to learn and grow through diverse project assignments. The role offers opportunities to work closely with engineers, project managers, and designers while contributing to planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Civil/Environmental EIT, we'll count on you to:

• Support the planning, analysis, and design of civil and environmental infrastructure projects.
• Prepare construction drawings, technical exhibits, figures, and design documentation using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Develop and produce site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion control, utility, and roadway improvement plans.
• Uses knowledge of tools and drafting to complete assigned tasks including 2D and 3D model development, completing design changes, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, plotting, and drafting using CADD platforms.
• Assist with stormwater management analyses, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, and preparation of supporting technical documentation.
• Perform routine engineering assignments requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Conduct quantity takeoffs including volume analysis to support preparation of opinions of probable construction cost.
• Support preparation of reports, specifications, permit applications, and technical memoranda.
• Perform field visits to gather site information, verify existing conditions, and support construction-phase services.
• Coordinate with surveyors and GIS technicians for accurate data management.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to incorporate design calculations, permitting requirements, and client standards into construction documents.
• Review drawings for quality, completeness, and conformance with company and client standards.
• Work independently on smaller tasks while contributing as part of multidisciplinary project teams on larger projects.
• Organizing assignments to ensure deadlines are met.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
• Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in civil engineering, environmental engineering, site development, municipal infrastructure, or related fields.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience preparing construction documents for site development, stormwater, utility, municipal, or environmental projects.
• Experience with stormwater management design and drainage analyses.
• Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Working knowledge of permitting and regulatory requirements related to civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong graphic, organizational, and technical writing skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
