Job Description

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Co-op to join our Research & Development Quality Assurance team, supporting our Chromatography and Quality laboratory teams through daily analytical and quality testing.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with chromatography, brewing science, fermentation analysis, and laboratory operations in a fast-paced beverage manufacturing environment. The Co-op will work closely with experienced scientists and quality professionals and receive regular guidance to support learning and professional growth.

This position is part of our 6-month Co-op Program, running from January 4, 2027, through June 25, 2027. This role is fully onsite at our Boston Brewery location in Jamaica Plain, MA, with team members expected to work five days per week on onsite.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

Chromatography

  • Complete instrument startup, sample preparation, and data analysis
  • Perform gas chromatography (GC) and/or liquid chromatography (LC) analysis to support quality & research initiatives
  • Conduct basic instrument troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Manage analytical requests and sample inventory
  • Analyze daily fermentation samples and assist with data entry in QA databases
  • Conduct routine chemical analysis on in-process beers as well as blended, finished, and packaged products
  • Participate in monthly GMP audits

Quality

  • Analyze daily fermentation samples and assist with data entry in QA databases

Laboratory

  • Work safely within the laboratory and brewing environments by following SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and readiness for daily operations.
  • Able to be on your feet for extended periods; able to lift at least 20 lbs
  • Design and complete term project per review by Chromatographer and QA Manager
  • Other duties as required by laboratory and/or brewery needs

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Forensic Science, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, Brewing, or a related scientific discipline
  • Must continue to be enrolled in school after the completion of the co-op
  • Previous co-op experience or coursework involving wet laboratory techniques is required
  • Prior experience with gas chromatography (GC) and/or liquid chromatography (LC) is required
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management abilities, and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
