The CMA collaborates closely with nurses and other healthcare professionals to monitor residents for any adverse reactions or changes in condition related to medication. Additionally, the role involves maintaining detailed and accurate documentation of medication administration and resident responses. Ultimately, the CMA helps to create a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment that promotes the highest quality of care for all residents.
Minimum Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

- Observe and report any changes in residents’ health status or adverse reactions to medications to the nursing staff promptly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist residents with medication-related questions and provide reassurance to promote adherence and understanding.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective resident care.
- Participate in ongoing training and competency evaluations to maintain certification and stay current with best practices.
- Ensure medication storage areas are organized, secure, and comply with safety standards.
Skills:
The Certified Medication Aide utilizes strong attention to detail and organizational skills daily to ensure medications are administered safely and accurately. Effective communication skills are essential for explaining medication instructions to residents and collaborating with nursing staff to report observations and concerns. Critical thinking and observational skills help the CMA identify potential side effects or changes in resident conditions that require prompt attention.
