Responsibilities
The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the facility's General Manager and is fully accountable for clinical quality, business and strategic planning, financial performance, personnel leadership, operational effectiveness, facility management, physician relationships, and regulatory compliance. The CEO provides leadership to ensure exceptional patient care, outstanding clinical outcomes, operational excellence, and sustained center growth.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership and Quality
- Lead and sustain a culture focused on patient safety, clinical excellence, and quality outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, infection prevention protocols, and quality initiatives.
- Partner closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and staff to drive continuous quality improvement and exceptional patient experiences.
- Maintain readiness for accreditation surveys and regulatory inspections.
- Oversee clinical performance indicators, patient satisfaction, risk management activities, and quality improvement programs.
Operational Leadership
- Direct daily operations to ensure efficient, safe, and effective patient care delivery.
- Support efficient business office functions, including admissions, credentialing, medical records, insurance verification, billing, collections, and revenue cycle activities.
- Ensure appropriate staffing, workflow optimization, and resource utilization.
- Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and service excellence.
Financial Management
- Drive financial performance through effective expense management, case growth, physician engagement, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor financial results and implement strategies to achieve budgeted performance targets.
- Ensure responsible stewardship of center resources.
Physician Partnership and Business Development
- Develop and maintain strong physician relationships.
- Collaborate with physician partners to support growth initiatives and strategic objectives.
- Identify opportunities to expand services, improve market position, and enhance facility performance.
- Serve as a trusted business and operational partner to the physician owners and governing board.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required and maintained in good standing throughout employment.
- Prior nursing experience and demonstrated clinical leadership experience required.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience leading clinical operations, quality programs, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Strong financial, operational, and physician relationship management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively lead teams, manage competing priorities, and drive results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), outpatient surgery center, hospital surgical services department, or similar procedural environment.
- Experience with accreditation and regulatory agencies, including AAAHC, Joint Commission, CMS, and state licensing requirements.
- Multi-site healthcare leadership experience.
- Experience managing budgets, growth initiatives, and physician-owned healthcare organizations.
