The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

The CARE Case Manager provides strengths-based assessment, intervention, and coordination of services to students experiencing academic, personal, and/or medical difficulties to assist them in removing barriers to success and to enhance their holistic well-being. The Case Manager exercises independent judgment while coordinating with the Director of CARE, other faculty and staff members, and parents or community members when appropriate, to develop supportive plans for students in need of resources. Serves as a liaison between the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) and other campus departments to support student well-being, collect information about student referrals, and implement programs for various constituents in the university community. Provides key partnership and support for ODOS teams and events. Assists the Director with oversight and administration of the CARE Network and serves as a team member in the Office of the Dean of Students. Occasional evening and weekend hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

CARE Student Case Management:

• Maintains a caseload of CARE referrals for students in need of additional support.
• Conducts initial review of CARE referrals using the process of gathering data, analyzing through the NABITA rubric and implementing appropriate interventions.
• Receives referrals from the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) to provide case management services and deliver recommended interventions.
• Schedules and meets with student, assesses student safety and needs holistically, coordinate action plan, referrals, and support including follow up appointments as necessary.
• Communicates with referrers and provides updates, and collaborates with appropriate staff, offices, and resources.
• Closely manages high risk cases including concerns such as suicidal ideation and/or attempt, substance use, serious mental health, and other behavioral issues.
• Documents notes in electronic record keeping system (Advocate)
• Monitors and reassesses utilization, completion, and efficacy of interventions, and amends action plan as needed.
• Co-facilitates CARE Team and Student Support Network meetings under the leadership of the Director.
• Coordinates with campus and community resources.
• Manages CARE Network in the absence of the Director.
• Working closely with the Director, provides leadership to the campus community regarding issues of student support.

Programming and Marketing

• Creates and facilitates trainings, workshops, and presentations pertaining to student support and well-being
• Represents CARE throughout the year at Resource Fairs, Orientation, Accepted Students Days, and other events as requested
• Through outreach and one on one support, connects with faculty and staff to strengthen ability to recognize and support students in need
• Creates, researches, develops, and implements marketing outreach initiatives that contribute to better understanding and usage of CARE and case management services and orders promotional materials related to CARE.

Summer Embedded CARE Programming

• Serves as an embedded CARE partner with the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS), University Student Life, and Academic Excellence units—including Orientation and New Student Programs, Residence Life, Academic Advising, and related campus partners—to develop and implement proactive student support and CARE initiatives during the summer months.
• Designs, coordinates, and facilitates training programs for student leaders focused on recognizing signs of student stress, distress, and other emerging concerns, while promoting effective support, referral, and intervention practices.
• Develops and delivers skills-based workshops and educational programming for residential communities, orientation groups, and early-arrival student populations on topics such as boundary setting, goal and priority management, self-regulation, resilience, and personal well-being.
• Collaborates with campus partners to identify emerging student needs, enhance early intervention efforts, and foster a culture of care, belonging, and holistic student success throughout the summer experience.

CARE Network Administrative Tasks:

• In collaboration with with other CARE staff, maintains online case management system and tracks CARE Network referrals, documenting pertinent information while maintaining privacy and respect to sensitive information.
• Assists with maintaining the CARE Resource Center online database and the CARE website.
• Assists the Director with planning monthly Student Support Network meetings.
• Assists the Director with collecting, interpreting, and reporting statistical data related to CARE Network referrals.

Regularly participates in:

• CARE staff meetings, ODOS and other departmental meetings, Behavioral Intervention Team meetings, and monthly Student Support Network Meetings
• ODOS and University wide committees related to job responsibilities.
• Regional, state and national professional organizations pertinent to the field
• Assists ODOS offices with events and programs throughout the year, occasional evenings and weekends

Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in college or counseling setting or relevant experience required. Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, or related field preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience supporting students with mental health presentations, various disability statuses, and/or diverse identities of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of higher education systems and related software and technology; effective communicator both written and verbal, handling sensitive and confidential information; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail; ability to work independently while exercising good judgment; proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships in a complex environment preferred. Knowledge of restorative justice and trauma informed practices preferred.
