Assistant professor

The Assistant Professor is expected to nucleate a productive and healthy lab environment in their area of research interest. Because this individual will be responsible for the overall success of the lab, they should be familiar with all lab techniques, have outstanding written and oral communication skills, and provide strong mentoring and support for junior scientists (technicians, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, etc.). This individual is also expected to oversee the entire scientific process, from experimental design to interpretation and publication. Ideally, they will also contribute to the scientific mission of FCCC, through service on committees and other leadership opportunities. Ultimately, it is expected that the Assistant Professor will establish a world-class, independently funded research lab. Tenure track Assistant Professors are generally hired following a national/international search for well-published and promising independent scientists in a discipline of interest to FCCC. On occasion, individuals who are on the 'Research' track can be promoted internally to the tenure track. Assistant Professor positions are of a defined duration, approximately 6 years, and retention at FCCC thereafter is contingent on a successful review by the Appointments and Promotions Committee.

Education

• Doctorate Degree Physical or Biological Sciences Required
• Post Doctorate Degree: Ph.D or MD Required

Experience

• 3 years experience writing and communicating in a research environment Required
• General Experience and proficiency working in a research lab Required
• General Experience applying scientific theories and principles Required
• General Experience mentoring trainees and lab personnel Preferred
