The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is a highly selective institution that is consistently recognized as one of the top comprehensive colleges in the nation. Founded in 1855 as the New Jersey State Normal School, TCNJ maintains the eighth highest four-year graduation rate among all public colleges and universities. It is ranked by Money as one of the top 15 public colleges “most likely to pay off financially,” and U.S. News & World Report rates it the No. 1 public institution among regional universities in the Northeast.
The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a tenure-track teaching position in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences. Candidates should demonstrate potential to become an innovative teacher-scholar, whose research, educational, and professional experiences have prepared them to contribute meaningfully to an evidence-based movement science program/curriculum. The candidate’s area of research specialization is open; however, the candidate should be prepared to teach in areas related to strength & conditioning, metabolic nutrition, exercise science, leadership management, data analytics, biomechanics, cellular biology, exercise biochemistry, or other general kinesiology courses that support CoAES and CASCE accreditations. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester, advise majors, and engage in ongoing scholarly activity that supports the teacher-scholar model, and participate in college-wide service. Additional expectations include institutional service, such as participating in and potentially leading service activities at multiple collegiate and professional levels, with a preference for candidates who have demonstrated experience or leadership in CoAES & CASCE accreditation efforts. An expected focus will be placed on developing effective, engaging pedagogical strategies and state-of-the-art student laboratory opportunities. In this regard, the candidate may be mentored by Department members and further supported by TCNJ’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Where appropriate in the KHS curriculum, persons with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations in order to perform the essential functions of the position. If the requested accommodation(s) cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, the applicant may not be eligible for the position.
Employment at TCNJ is contingent upon the successful completion of an applicable background check, reference checks, and verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States (Form I-9).
Applicants who require a reasonable accommodation to apply or interview should contact hr@tcnj.edu.
