Assistant Nurse Manager

The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and compliance with organizational standards. This role collaborates with providers and staff to oversee workflows, support nursing personnel, promote quality improvement initiatives, and enhance patient access and outcomes for diverse and underserved populations.

Essential Functions:

• Provide clinical leadership and operational oversight related to nursing care to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across the health center.
• Ensure effective nursing services and care coordination that support positive patient outcomes and access to care for diverse and underserved populations.
• Support and develop nursing staff performance and professional practice to maintain a competent, engaged, and accountable workforce.
• Promote compliance with regulatory, accreditation, organizational, and quality standards applicable to nursing and clinical operations.
• Collaborate effectively with providers, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary team members as applicable to improve care delivery, operational efficiency, and patient experience.
• Advance quality improvement and patient safety initiatives that enhance clinical outcomes and organizational performance.
• Facilitate effective clinical workflows and resource utilization to support efficient health center operations and continuity of care.
• Support the implementation of organizational goals, policies, and strategic initiatives related to nursing practice, population health, and service excellence.

Additional Duties

• Provide cross-functional support and coverage for designated leadership or clinical roles during absences, vacancies, or periods of increased operational need.
• Assist with annual and periodic organizational processes, including regulatory readiness activities, program evaluations, strategic initiatives, and workforce planning efforts.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned to support departmental operations, organizational priorities, and patient care objectives.

Minimum Requirements

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in Leadership and Administration or equivalent preferred.

Licensure and Certification

• A current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Additional certifications relevant to ambulatory care, leadership, or population health preferred.

Experience

• Requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on nursing experience and at least 1 year of experience supervising and managing nursing or clinical staff with direct reporting responsibilities.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHRs), Microsoft Office applications, and other healthcare technology systems.
• Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) operations, quality improvement principles, and care coordination practices preferred.
• Experience participating in quality improvement, population health, care coordination, or community health initiatives within a primary care, ambulatory care, or FQHC environment.
• Experience leading or supporting change management, staff development, and process improvement initiatives in a clinical setting.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across interdisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to advancing health equity and providing culturally responsive care that meets the needs of diverse and underserved populations.

Preferred

• Ability to collaborate effectively across a broad spectrum of backgrounds and perspectives. Candidates who demonstrate inclusive thinking and interpersonal awareness help strengthen our commitment to equitable and compassionate care for all.
• Demonstrated person-centered approach and familiarity with trauma informed systems and restorative practices.
