As an Advanced Practice Provider in UVA Health’s NICU, you will practice at the top of your license in a collaborative, academically driven environment. This is an opportunity to build deep neonatal expertise, perform advanced procedures, and grow your career in a unit experiencing significant expansion and investment.
In this high acuity NICU setting, no two shifts are the same. You’ll care for critically ill neonates while working alongside an interdisciplinary team committed to evidence‑based, family centered care. The unit’s pace is dynamic, the clinical complexity is high, and the impact is profound.
A typical experience in this role includes:
Full-time: 13 shifts per 4-week block (12-hour shifts)
Rotating days and nights
Self-scheduling model designed to support work-life balance
You will be supported by a structured onboarding experience tailored to your background, with individualized orientation timelines and strong mentorship to ensure success at every stage of your career.
Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.
UVA Health offers the rare combination of academic medicine, advanced clinical capability, and a supportive team culture, all within a health system that is actively expanding and investing in neonatal care.
This NICU is part of a top-ranked children’s hospital and operates as a Level IV referral center, delivering the most advanced neonatal care available. You will join during a transformative period of growth, with the NICU expanding significantly to meet rising demand for complex care.
