2027 Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program

Citizens Bank is seeking Summer Analysts to join the Capital Markets & Advisory (CM&A) team. Through a 10-week internship program, Summer Analysts will work closely with the team’s junior and senior professionals to prepare, analyze, and execute investment banking transactions, primarily within the U.S. middle market. This program is the primary method of sourcing full-time Investment Banking Analyst candidates. Over the course of the summer internship program, Summer Analysts will be assigned to active and prospective engagement teams, gaining exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of an investment banker and growing professionally in a fast-paced environment.

Opportunity Overview

M&A – Baltimore, MD.

Our M&A team in Baltimore originates and executes M&A, valuation and strategic advisory engagements with a focus on the Downstream Energy & Convenience Retail industries. Our investment banking team is the leading M&A advisory group in the U.S. to companies in the fuels, convenience retail and propane industries. Summer Analysts play an integral role supporting our high-performing team of eleven senior bankers and twelve junior professionals. Interns contribute directly to live and prospective transactions by preparing marketing materials, conducting industry research, and performing detailed financial analyses. The internship program offers hands-on experience, close collaboration with full-time Analysts and Associates, and personalized development through a dedicated mentorship program.

M&A – Richmond, VA.

Our M&A team in Richmond originates and executes M&A, valuation and strategic advisory engagements with a focus on the Downstream Energy & Convenience Retail (DER) and Outdoor Recreation & Marine industries. Our DER investment banking team is the leading M&A advisory group in the U.S. to companies in the fuels, convenience retail and propane industries. Summer Analysts play an integral role supporting our high-performing team of thirteen senior bankers and fourteen junior professionals. Interns contribute directly to live and prospective transactions by preparing marketing materials, conducting industry research, and performing detailed financial analyses. The internship program offers hands-on experience, close collaboration with full-time Analysts and Associates, and personalized development through a dedicated mentorship program.

Responsibilities

Shared responsibilities across all CM&A functions include:

• Financial Analysis: Financial modeling, comparable company and transaction analyses, leveraged buyout, and other valuation analyses.
• Preparing Information Memoranda and Transaction Documents: Draft key marketing and transaction-related documents.
• Supporting Team Members: Develop new business ideas, pitch strategies, or transaction structuring scenarios to help clients achieve their strategic objectives.
• Preparing Pitch/Business Origination Materials and Presentations: Develop and assemble pitches and presentations and be an integral part of delivering these presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Successfully complete a video interview assessment within 4 days of receiving the link. If not completed within the timeframe, your application will be automatically withdrawn from consideration.
• Current students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, graduating between Winter 2027 – Spring 2028.
• Minimum GPA of 3.2; Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.5. Please include your cumulative GPA on your resume.
• Relevant work experience, leadership experience and coursework in Finance, Accounting or Economics is preferred but all majors considered.
• Strong analytical skills and software skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.

Pay Transparency

This position offers $41/hr as a hourly rate.

Since this a temporary position, you are not eligible to participate in the Citizens colleague benefits program.
