Lead / Manager
For one of our clients, we are looking for an experienced and results-oriented Finance Manager to lead the Finance and Accounting function. You will oversee financial reporting, internal controls, statutory and tax compliance, cash-flow management, and the timely completion of all financial activities.
In this role, you will lead the accounting team and support local, regional, and corporate management through financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and sound financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, cash management, audit, and internal controls, with experience in logistics, shipping, freight forwarding, or a multinational environment being an advantage.
As a Finance Manager, you will manage and oversee the daily operations of the Finance and Accounting Department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, banking, reconciliations, cash management, and month- and year-end closing activities.
You will ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements, management reports, financial schedules, and supporting analyses. You will also review balance-sheet reconciliations, journal entries, receivables, payables, and other key accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
A key part of your role will be maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and Suriname's statutory and tax requirements. You will oversee tax compliance, statutory deductions, and payroll-related financial entries.
You will prepare and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and financial performance, investigate significant variances, and provide management with financial insights and recommendations. You will also manage banking activities, liquidity requirements, foreign currency transactions, receivables, collections, and credit exposure.
You will coordinate internal and external audits, follow up on audit findings, and work closely with the General Manager and Regional/Corporate Finance teams. As a people manager, you will supervise, develop, and evaluate accounting staff while ensuring accountability, proper segregation of duties, and adherence to deadlines.
You will also identify opportunities to improve financial systems, procedures, controls, and overall efficiency.
The role requires a highly organised and analytical professional with strong leadership skills, sound judgement, integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at local, regional, and corporate levels.
