About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to oversee the organization's accounting and financial reporting functions. The successful candidate will provide strong financial leadership, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain robust financial controls, and support compliance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements.

The role requires a commercially aware accounting professional with experience in Money Transfer, Remittances, Fintech, Payments, Foreign Exchange, or related financial services.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization.
• Prepare and review accurate financial statements, management reports, and financial analyses.
• Ensure proper maintenance of accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management.
• Establish and maintain effective financial controls and accounting procedures.
• Monitor cash flows, budgets, expenditures, and financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
• Work closely with senior management to provide financial insights and support business decisions.
• Monitor financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
• Liaise with banks, auditors, regulators, tax authorities, and other relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA(K) / CPA qualification is mandatory.
• 5–10 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting or finance role.
• Experience in Money Transfer & Remittances, Fintech, Payments, Forex, Financial Services, or a closely related industry is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, accounting controls, reconciliations, budgeting, and cash management.
• Experience working in a regulated financial services environment will be an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Must have a valid Kenyan passport.
• Must be willing and available to relocate to Juba, South Sudan.
• Previous regional or international work experience will be an added advantage.
