Do you want to lead the planning and design of complex water, flood resilience and climate adaptation projects in Singapore and across Southeast Asia? Are you experienced in translating hydrological and hydraulic analysis into practical, integrated and sustainable solutions? Would you enjoy working with clients, authorities and multidisciplinary teams to create more resilient and liveable cities?

If so, you may be our new Senior Hydraulic Design Manager in Singapore.

Your new role

Ramboll’s Water Infrastructure and Climate Adaptation team works on some of the region’s most complex challenges relating to flood risk, stormwater management, coastal resilience and climate adaptation. We combine engineering, hydrological and hydraulic modelling, nature-based solutions, urban planning and economic assessment to develop solutions that create value for communities, infrastructure and the environment.

As our new Senior Design Manager, you will provide technical and project leadership across water infrastructure and climate adaptation assignments in Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region. You will lead multidisciplinary design processes from early-stage assessment and master planning through concept and detailed design, authority engagement and, where relevant, construction support.

You will play a central role in ensuring that technical analyses are translated into robust, practical and implementable solutions. You will coordinate inputs from hydraulic modellers, water engineers, planners, landscape architects, environmental specialists, economists and other disciplines, while maintaining clear communication with clients and stakeholders.

The position will contribute directly to current and future assignments involving flood-risk assessment, drainage and stormwater design, blue-green infrastructure, water-sensitive urban design and climate-resilient development. This includes projects for Singapore public-sector clients and authorities, as well as regional assignments across Southeast Asia.

Your key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the planning and design of water infrastructure, flood resilience and climate adaptation projects.
• Manage multidisciplinary design processes from feasibility and concept development through detailed design and implementation support.
• Provide technical leadership in hydrology, hydraulics, urban drainage, stormwater management and flood-risk assessment.
• Guide the development, review and application of one-dimensional and two-dimensional hydrological and hydraulic models.
• Translate modelling results and risk assessments into practical design requirements, adaptation measures and investment recommendations.
• Lead the preparation and quality assurance of technical reports, design documentation, drawings, calculations and client deliverables.
• Coordinate effectively across water engineering, coastal engineering, urban planning, landscape architecture, environment, economics and other relevant disciplines.
• Manage project scope, programme, budget, resources, risks and quality.
• Act as a primary point of contact for clients, authorities, project partners and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate technical workshops, design reviews and stakeholder-engagement processes.
• Support engagement and coordination with Singapore authorities and public-sector clients, including PUB, HDB, NParks, JTC and other relevant agencies.
• Support authority submissions and help ensure that designs comply with relevant Singapore guidelines, codes and approval requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching and quality assurance to engineers and modellers within the team.
• Contribute to tenders, proposals, project scoping, fee development and business-development activities.
• Promote the integration of nature-based solutions, blue-green infrastructure and water-sensitive urban design into conventional water and drainage infrastructure.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and the continued development of Ramboll’s methods, digital tools and technical capabilities in Singapore and across the wider global organisation.

Qualifications

About you

For this role, we believe your starting point is:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, water resources engineering, environmental engineering or another relevant discipline.
• Approximately 8 or more years of relevant professional experience in water infrastructure, urban drainage, flood-risk management or climate adaptation.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary design projects and coordinating technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, drainage design, stormwater management and flood-risk assessment.
• Practical experience with one-dimensional and two-dimensional hydraulic modelling and the interpretation of modelling outputs.
• Experience taking projects from early analysis and planning into concept design, detailed design and implementation or construction support.
• Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, design documents, calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Strong project-management capabilities, including management of scope, programme, budget, resources, risks and quality.
• Experience engaging directly with clients, government agencies, authorities, technical partners and other stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Singapore’s water-management, drainage and development context.
• Familiarity with PUB requirements and established Singapore approaches such as ABC Waters Design would be a strong advantage.
• Experience with nature-based solutions, blue-green infrastructure or water-sensitive urban design would be highly desirable.
• Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
• The ability to lead, mentor and develop engineers working at different levels of experience.
• A collaborative and proactive working style, with the ability to create progress in technically complex and multidisciplinary environments.

Candidates may have experience with tools such as MIKE, InfoWorks ICM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XPSWMM, GIS or similar modelling and spatial-analysis platforms. The position will focus primarily on modelling judgement and design leadership rather than proficiency in one specific software package.
