Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose:

This position shall support the execution of regional and global sourcing strategies for Direct Materials, for OFC´s cable and fiber manufacturing plants in Poland (Strykow, Mszczonow).

The Senior Specialist cooperates with multiple functions on the plant level, regional level and in GSM, among them with Sourcing Managers for various Direct Material categories and the material planners on the plant levels.

Personal and Business Objectives include NPC, Supply Assurance, Supplier OTD.

The position reports directly to the Manager, OFC EMEA Procurement and is part of the Global Supply Management network.

Responsibilities:

• Co-lead the Packaging and Resin category with the respective (corporate) GSM EMEA Category leads
• Lead the process for NPC calculation and reporting
• Maintain Purchasing data for all Direct materials in SAP (Purchasing Info Records, Source Lists, Vendor Master Data) based on the input of Sourcing Managers and own analysis
• Collect, analyze and report data for supplier performance, NPC, spend
• Steadily improve sourcing-relevant data quality in ERP and GSM databases to drive strategic value
• Identify material-related synergies for NPC and supplier consolidation with Cable and Fiber plants in other regions
• Lead and/or support the issue resolution on supply shortages, quality issues, payments
• Lead material sample ordering process (in support of Engineering teams and Sourcing Managers)
• Negotiate sourcing conditions and Master Supply Agreements, incl. eAuctions
• Represent GSM in cross-functional Project teams, e.g. for compliance
• Control over the IP-compliance (ORM suppliers under NDA)
• Support in planning processes (e.g. Blackbook)
• Advocate the use of sophisticated digital tools

Requirements

• Academic Degree in Engineering, Technology, Supply Chain, Business Administration or alike
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing and/or Supply Chain
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in manufacturing industry
• Very good command of English language
• Very good knowledge of SAP R/3, MS Office software
• High ability to self-manage and prioritise tasks
• Understands the importance and value of open communication and sharing of information
• Understanding of Supplier Cost Structures
• Legal knowledge and contract negotiation skills considered a plus
• Category expertise for Raw Materials considered as a plus
• Attention to details
