Senior Specialist, Data and AI Governance, APAC

About the Role

The Senior Specialist, Data & AI Governance will play a critical role in helping Aon maximize the value of its data and AI assets across Asia Pacific. Working across business, analytics, and technology teams, this role will drive adoption of Data & AI Governance practices that enable trusted decision-making, accelerate AI innovation, improve data quality, and support the development of strategic data assets.

Rather than viewing governance as a compliance exercise, this role will help position governance as a business enabler, ensuring that data and AI assets are discoverable, trusted, reusable, and aligned with strategic business objectives.

What the Day Will Look Like

Data & AI Strategy Alignment:

• Partner with business, analytics, and technology teams to align Data & AI Governance priorities with business goals and growth opportunities.
• Identify opportunities where better governance can improve decision-making, enable AI adoption, increase data reuse, and create business value.
• Support strategic initiatives involving analytics, AI, data modernization, and digital transformation.
• Promote governance as an enabler of innovation rather than a compliance activity.

Strategic Data Asset (SDA) Enablement:

• Support the governance and lifecycle management of Strategic Data Assets (SDAs) across APAC.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to improve the quality, accessibility, and adoption of key data assets.
• Help identify and prioritize data assets that can drive business outcomes, analytics insights, and AI use cases.
• Track governance maturity and business value delivered through strategic data assets.

Data & AI Governance Implementation:

• Support the implementation of Aon's Data & AI Governance frameworks and standards across APAC.
• Embed governance practices into analytics solutions, data products, AI initiatives, and digital capabilities.
• Support governance forums, issue management, and continuous improvement activities.
• Help business teams understand and adopt governance practices that improve trust and usability of data.

Data Quality and Stewardship:

• Work with Data Owners, Data Stewards, and analytics teams to improve data quality and trust.
• Support the definition of business rules, data standards, and quality measures.
• Coordinate the resolution of data quality issues and promote accountability for data assets.
• Drive continuous improvement in the consistency, completeness, and usability of data.

Metadata, Data Catalog and Knowledge Management:

• Maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, and metadata repositories.
• Improve discoverability and understanding of enterprise data assets.
• Promote adoption of data catalog and governance capabilities.
• Support documentation of ownership, lineage, and business definitions to enable self-service analytics and AI.

AI Governance and Responsible AI:

• Support implementation of Aon's AI Governance Framework and Responsible AI principles.
• Partner with business and technology teams to govern Generative AI, AI agents, machine learning models, and AI-enabled products.
• Maintain inventories of AI use cases and support governance reviews for emerging AI solutions.
• Promote responsible AI practices and awareness across APAC.
• Monitor industry developments and help evolve Aon's AI governance capabilities.

Stakeholder Engagement and Governance Enablement:

• Build strong relationships across business, analytics, and technology teams.
• Coordinate governance forums, working groups, and communities of practice.
• Deliver training, communications, and awareness activities to improve adoption of Data & AI Governance.
• Act as a trusted advisor on data, analytics, and AI governance topics.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, Analytics, AI Governance, or related disciplines.
• Experience working with business and technology stakeholders in complex organizations.
• Strong understanding of how data, analytics, and AI can create business value.
• Familiarity with governance and analytics tools such as Alation, Collibra, Microsoft Purview, Power BI, Databricks, or similar platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Curious, collaborative, and outcome-focused, with a passion for data, AI, and innovation.
