ABOUT THE ROLE

The AP Specialist will oversee the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations. This role involves managing vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and addressing audit requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AP management within an e-commerce environment, excellent analytical skills, and experience with global financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the AP team to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments. Manage and monitor vendor accounts, ensuring proper accounting and reporting. Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of AP sub-ledgers with the general ledger. Handle vendor queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present AP reports, including aging reports and payment schedules. Analyze AP data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on AP performance.
• Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. Address audit requirements and provide necessary documentation and explanations. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Team Leadership and Development: Supervise, mentor, and develop the AP team members. Set performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback. Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the AP team.
• Systems and Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance AP efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with IT and other departments to optimize financial systems and tools. Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies in AP management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CA) is preferred.
• Article-ship in a well-known firm is a must.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial reporting, preferably within e-commerce or retail sectors.
• Strong understanding of general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, and multi-currency accounting.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities with high attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
