Job Description

Introduction

You have spent years developing serious electrical engineering expertise across complex industrial projects. Now you are ready to lead a team, own multiple projects simultaneously, and work across the full voltage spectrum from 24V through to 380kV. If that sounds like the right next step, keep reading.

Company Information

Our client is a well-established Dutch engineering consultancy with offices in Amsterdam, Schiedam, and Antwerp. They deliver full-service engineering across a broad portfolio of industrial sectors including energy, chemicals, pharma, food, and building-related installations. Their work spans the full project lifecycle from front-end development through to engineering, procurement, and construction management. What sets them apart is a pragmatic approach, broad technological knowledge across disciplines, and a genuine commitment to sustainable and future-proof industrial solutions.

The Electrical Engineering department is a growing team of around 30 professionals, many of whom are actively contributing to the energy transition through emission reduction, energy efficiency, and industrial safety improvements.

Vacancy Information

Our client is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer who is either ready to step into that level of responsibility or is already operating there. This is not a narrow-scope role. You will work across the entire electrical engineering spectrum, from grounding, lightning protection, and power distribution through to low, medium, and high voltage systems at every level. You will take ownership of multiple projects either simultaneously or in sequence, ensuring variety and genuine technical challenge as part of your daily work. You will design, calculate, and deliver comprehensive electrical systems while working closely with instrumentation specialists and other technical disciplines in a multidisciplinary 3D engineering environment. There is also real opportunity to expand your expertise into instrumentation and control systems as your role develops.

The position is based in a modern, well-equipped office environment and offers a broad scope of responsibilities with direct impact on the projects your team delivers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leading the electrical engineering process across multiple low, medium, and high-voltage projects from concept through to completion.
  • Performing calculations and designing layouts, diagrams, and technical documentation in line with client requirements and quality standards.
  • Taking ownership of grounding, lightning protection, power distribution, and electrical system design across all voltage levels from 24V up to 380kV.
  • Guiding, mentoring, and inspiring a team of approximately 30 electrical engineers and supporting their professional development.
  • Collaborating closely with instrumentation specialists and other technical disciplines within a multidisciplinary 3D project environment.
  • Aligning project scope, technical requirements, and deliverables with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contributing to projects focused on emission reduction, energy efficiency, and safe industrial operations as part of the broader energy transition.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer within an engineering consultancy environment, with proven leadership experience as a Lead Engineer or in a senior project role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical system design and calculations including cable sizing, short-circuit calculations, emergency power, and lighting systems.
  • Experience working across the full voltage spectrum and comfort with both conceptual and detailed electrical engineering.
  • Solid experience in multidisciplinary project environments and the ability to coordinate effectively across technical disciplines.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide and develop a large team of engineers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a client-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
