By joining the team as Accounting Coordinator, you will oversee the activities of the Cards Clearing & Settlement and Cards Enquiry & Reconciliation sections of the SBU through the efficient management of resources (staff, systems, processes, budget), in alignment with established rules, regulations and procedures, for the smooth running of operations.
In this role you will:
- Participate with the BU Management in the formulation, communication and implementation of individual and BU objectives;
- Manage and report on team performance;
- Identify shortcomings and suggest improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures, then delivers a plan for change with guidance from BU Management;
- Plan and deliver stakeholder engagement activities to develop effective working relationships and to ensure that stakeholder needs and concerns are identified and met;
- Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs;
- Identify, within the team, instances of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate;
- Supervise others and validate working within established operational systems;
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching;
- Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities;
- Respond to more advanced issue escalations promptly and appropriately;
- Assign work schedules to a team in order to achieve expectations while following established timelines;
- Manage the whole settlement process and take appropriate decision with regards unsettled transactions with a view of minimising financial impact;
- Proactively manage the settlement of Card transactions to / from Card schemes to ensure that same are performed without financial implications to the SBU and within agreed timeframe;
- Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports;
- Contribute to the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice;
- Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends;
- Conduct complex analyses to identify variances, suggest efficiencies, and increase profitability.

We are looking for candidates who have a minimum of:
EITHER
- A Degree in Finance/Accounting or a completed Professional Qualification such as ACCA/ACA/CIMA;
- 5 years’ experience within Financial services, with sharp knowledge of Cards business and products;
- 2 years’ experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes.
OR
- A Diploma in Finance/Accounting or a partially completed Professional Qualification such as ACCA/ACA/CIMA;
- 10 years’ experience within Financial services, with sharp knowledge of Cards business and products;
- 4 years’ experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes.
AND
- Experience in automating account settlement and reconciliation processes would be an advantage;
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) would be an advantage.
A combination of both qualifications and experience will also be considered.
