Academic Manager

EF Sliema Summer School is seeking an enthusiastic and confident leader to join our team as Academic Manager.

This is a year-round role, involving approximately 20% of a full-time workload between September and May, with hours scheduled flexibly. The role becomes full-time from June to August, during the summer school’s operating period. Our Summer School program welcomes students aged 10 to 16 from around the world.

As Academic Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of the academic programme and ensure a consistently high-quality learning experience for our international students. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a leadership role within a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Summer Management Team to deliver an exceptional experience for our students and take overall responsibility for the academic programme.
• Line-manage three Academic Coordinators, providing guidance, support and regular feedback.
• Recruit, train and support the summer teaching team.
• Lead and support a team of more than 45 teachers, ensuring that lessons are delivered to consistently high standards.
• Conduct regular team meetings and one-to-one feedback sessions with teachers.
• Schedule classes, students and classrooms using the relevant computer systems.
• Carry out teacher observations and provide constructive feedback to support ongoing professional development.
• Organise and lead graduation ceremonies, including the coordination of all associated administrative requirements.
• Participate in the emergency duty rota.

Requirements

• A minimum TEFL qualification; CELTA is preferred.
• Availability to work approximately 20% between September and May and full-time from June to August.
• Strong leadership skills, with previous management or team-leading experience.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably in an international or multicultural setting.
• Confidence using administrative and scheduling systems.
• A strong commitment to delivering the highest standards of customer service.
• A sociable, positive and engaging personality, with the ability to motivate and energise others.
• Fluency in English.
• The ability to provide a clear enhanced DBS check and two professional references.
• The right to work in Malta at the commencement of the contract.
