Get to know the AIG tax function

The main role of the Tax function is to manage accurate and efficient tax information and planning and ensure compliance with tax laws for the companies or client as well as risk mitigation.

The tax management is then in charge of ensuring that the organization is kept up-to-date on everything related to taxes, both with the corresponding payments and with the tax reforms. In addition to support in the expansion process providing support, expertise, and partnership to business areas.

About the role

What you need to know:

To ensure compliance with the tax obligations of the companies under its responsibility (mainly related to Argentina, Venezuela and Caribbean entities) which includes, amongst others, the following activities: to calculate federal and state tax returns and comply properly with the mandatory fillings on time, to determine the withholding tax treatment to be applicable, to prepare the reconciliation process of tax accounts, to maintain updated the tax information and documentation, to attend US GAAP reporting queries based on the AIG Corporate requests and policies, to attend Local GAAP requests related to Audited Financial Statements or any additional local request, to calculate the deferred tax provision, to analyze and submit the variances required by Corporate team and prepare the reconciliation of the Effective Tax Rate (ETR), to attend external auditors and the tax reviews or audits in progress. Also, supporting the Regional Associate Tax Director in activities and projects related to entities into the LAC Region.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To calculate and prepare all federal tax returns (Income tax advance payments, VAT returns, withholding tax returns, Asset Tax, Special-Unique economic contributions, and Large Financial Transactions Tax, amongst others) for review in an accurate and timely manner.
• To calculate and prepare monthly state and other contributions for review in an accurate and timely manner.
• To calculate and prepare the Income Tax returns on an annual basis.
• Provide support for the preparation of transfer pricing reports and returns submitted by the legal entities under the responsibility of this role.
• To prepare the current and deferred income tax provision for additional LAC entities.
• To develop the tax activities related to the month and annual close for accounting purposes, which includes booking the corresponding journal entries (JE) and validating the movements booked.
• To prepare and review monthly reconciliations of all tax accounts and monthly and quarterly US GAAP queries (tax payments analysis, roll forward analysis, amongst others).
• To review the invoices issued by providers to ensure that the requirements are met to be considered as deductible expenses, including to gather the support documentation required for payments made abroad.
• To analyze the Tax Treaty provisions and reduced rates for payments made abroad.
• To manage the Tax Certificates.
• To prepare the corresponding payment orders related to the payable tax.
• To review and analyze the tax changes or Tax Reforms related to the entities under the responsibility of this position and evaluate the effects for the AIG entities.
• To prepare and provide the documentation required by external or internal auditors.
• To participate in the attention of tax audits or tax requests.
• To participate in the migration process for the ERP in Argentina.
• To assist the Regional Associate Tax Director in duties and projects related to LAC Region.

Key Capabilities

• Public Accountant with tax experience for at least 2 years.
• Responsive to time pressure and ability to work with agreed deadlines and objectives.
• Able to coordinate, identify, assess, and communicate relevant issues on a timely basis.
• Proactive attitude to improve processes.
• Self-study on tax and accounting topics.
• Excellent teamwork player.
• Strong customer service skills.
• English language (intermediate level if it is possible).

What we are looking for:

• Solid level of tax experience, desirable in the Insurance industry or financial services.
• Experience with technical activities within a regulated environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management both verbally and in writing.
• Work effectively in a team environment and in building collaborative relationships with peers and with other stakeholders.
• Intermediate English level is desired.
• Experience at least 2 years in similar tax position.
• Experience of attending tax audits and requests.
• Excel intermediate level.
• Excellent Office knowledge and use of software developed by tax authorities.
