Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

As the Deputy Manager - Tractor Assembly at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing the assembly line operations within the Tractor Assembly & Testing department. Your core responsibilities will encompass the effective management of man cost control by improving line productivity and implementing cost-reduction strategies targeting scrap, consumables, and manpower. You will lead initiatives to achieve Service Parts Revenue (SPR) improvements exceeding 90%, and conduct thorough defects data analysis to establish robust countermeasures.

Additionally, you will manage market complaint analysis and resolution, ensuring continuous monitoring for quality and customer satisfaction. Your leadership will be crucial in directing the Assembly manufacturing team to meet and surpass the control metrics of Product Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale (PQCDSM). You will coordinate cross-functionally with internal departments, external teams, and vendors to achieve process improvements and facilitate the smooth establishment and scaling of new products into mass production.

Your duties will include strict adherence and enforcement of training schedules for both workers and staff, daily manpower management by resolving conflicts and disagreements promptly, and inspiring team spirit among workers through consistent performance reviews and feedback. You will perform gap analysis to identify production losses, quality issues, and machine breakdowns and synchronize parts supply across different product models, ensuring alignment with production plans and delivery targets.

For this role, candidates must possess a strong academic foundation in engineering disciplines, specifically:

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
• Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering

The ideal candidate should have completed a recognized degree program from accredited institutions that provide a solid grounding in engineering principles applicable to manufacturing and assembly processes. A background with exposure to industrial engineering, production technology, or related fields will be advantageous. General Experience

The role requires candidates to have comprehensive experience in manufacturing and assembly operations within the tractor or automotive sector. Candidates should have between 3 to 7 years of progressive responsibility demonstrating proficiency in:

• Managing production lines, with a focus on efficiency gains and cost control
• Implementing quality improvement initiatives and defect reduction mechanisms
• Handling complex coordination among cross-functional teams including procurement, quality assurance, and vendor relations
• Supervisory experience in leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve production objectives
• Experience with planning and monitoring departmental budgets and production schedules
• Experience in methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process optimization techniques will be considered advantageous.
• Familiarity with modern manufacturing software tools and metrics such as PQCDSM to track and improve performance is essential.

• Driving cost reduction projects focused on minimizing scrap rates, optimizing consumables usage, and managing manpower cost effectively
• Analyzing manufacturing defects and market complaints with a data-driven approach to formulate and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Successfully managing new product introductions from pilot phase through mass production, ensuring smooth transitions and adherence to production plans
• Effective coordination with both internal departments and external vendors to enhance process capabilities and parts synchronization across multiple product models
• Expert knowledge of departmental budget planning, monitoring, and control is essential.
• Strong conflict resolution and team leadership skills must be demonstrated, with a track record of resolving workforce-related issues while maintaining high morale and productivity.
