Tax manager - global compliance & reporting

The Global Compliance & Reporting Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to global compliance standards and accurately reports on financial incentives and recovery initiatives. This candidate will lead efforts to ensure adherence to regulatory, contractual, and financial compliance requirements for grants in US. The role involves monitoring compliance milestones, managing reporting obligations, and driving operational alignment across global teams to meet compliance expectations. The individual will serve as a key advisor to internal stakeholders on compliance risks and best practices, while liaising with external stakeholders and government agencies to maintain grant program integrity.

Introduction

The Grants Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing compliance activities associated with grants issued in the United States. This role will manage compliance requirements throughout the grant lifecycle, including regulatory reporting, milestone and deliverable tracking, financial obligations, audit readiness, and risk mitigation. The successful candidate will partner closely with Finance, Legal, and Business Units to establish effective controls and ensure compliance activities are aligned with business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Utilize excellent project management skills to manage multiple grants and compliance deadlines effectively.
• Oversee compliance activities for grants issued in U.S., ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations.
• Develop and implement a robust compliance framework, including policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms.
• Manage end-to-end compliance monitoring, including the tracking of milestones, deliverables, and financial obligations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Finance, Legal, and Business Units, to align compliance objectives with business goals.
• Prepare and submit compliance reports to relevant government agencies, providing accurate and timely updates.
• Investigate and resolve compliance issues, ensuring that processes and controls are updated to mitigate risks.
• Audit Readiness: Prepare for and support internal and external audits related to U.S. grant funding.

Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent project management skills to manage multiple grants and compliance deadlines effectively.
• Understanding grant regulations.
• Knowledge of compliance challenges related to capital and operating expenditures.
• Familiarity with financial reconciliation, audit processes, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Strong understanding of SOX compliance measures and the ability to implement and monitor controls.
• Exceptional leadership and decision-making abilities.

Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related business discipline. An advanced degree (MBA, JD, LL.M. in Tax, or Ph.D.) is preferred.
• Certification: Professional certifications such as CPA, Chartered Accountant (CA), Enrolled Agent (EA), or equivalent are a plus.
• Experience – 6-7 Years in field, IFRS / US GAAP understanding, experience with external public company reporting preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Advanced proficiency in compliance tools and software, including platforms like Workiva, or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate compliance requirements clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams to prioritize compliance related tasks.
• Ability to adapt to changing regulatory requirements and industry trends with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Having a high skill in all Excel functions.
• Shift work hours to provide support to clients in the United States time zones (around 3pm to midnight IST).
